Lead, Market Access Strategy

Hybrid eligible, On site 3 days a week

The Role:

The Market Access Strategy Lead reports to the Director, Market Access Strategy.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of the market access strategy for their aligned therapeutic area within Gilead’s portfolio.  This will include strategies for both public and private payers as well as non-traditional payers such as Public Health.  The role is responsible for the oversight and management of strategic market access projects in their therapeutic area in pipeline, pre-, peri- and post-launch.

You will improve the lives of Canadians by building relationships and work closely with departmental and cross functional colleagues in a fast-paced environment to achieve and maintain access to Gilead products. Through this role you will grow and be challenged in our diverse culture that will broaden your skills and expand your outreach in several therapeutic areas. Through the appropriate engagement of external stakeholders in the Canadian reimbursement environment, you will make a real difference in the lives of patients.

How you will ‘Create Possible’:

  • Ensure effective development, strategic planning and seamless execution of key deliverables, including submissions to Canadian health technology agencies; submissions to provincial and private payers; and pre-launch planning as well as post launch execution
  • Lead market access operational excellence through strategic pricing as well as PMPRB and PLA analysis across relevant therapeutic area aligned with the Pricing & Negotiations Lead
  • Lead the development and execution of a project management function to support market-access focused launch excellence and planning for the assigned therapeutic area
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional project teams to create and execute key market access strategic initiatives that support commercial organizational objectives, including the planning and execution of private and public reimbursement strategies, brand planning, and product negotiations
  • Maintain comprehensive acumen of the latest processes, policies, and trends within the Canadian market access and reimbursement environment to enable successful execution of strategic market access plans
  • Partner with global colleagues to leverage and adapt organizational tools and frameworks to optimize launch planning and execution for the Canadian market access environment
  • Engage local and global cross-functional colleagues to identify opportunities to increase efficiency in project management
  • Manage program budgets and invoices
  • Assist in the development and execution (where needed) of the negotiation’s strategy
  • Pull through the provincial PLAs following the issuance of the LOI from pCPA
  • Work together with the field access therapeutic lead to drive access and ensure a suitable environment across Canada for facilitating access to Gilead’s products

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • 6+ years within the biopharma/pharmaceutical industry with experience in pharmaceutical pricing (GtN) and payer negotiations (public and private)
  • Advanced degree in science, economics, public health, business, or related field of study would be an asset
  • Excellent communication and negotiations skills and demonstrated clear decision making; a strategic mindset and project management and related business analytics, including using project management software
  • Experience and knowledge in Canadian access and reimbursement of products in across Gilead’s therapeutic areas would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in health economic/pharmacoeconomic modeling and health technology assessment process would be an asset; ability to perform budget and financial forecasting and analyses, including experience with spreadsheets and market analytics
  • Superior analytics skills, detailed oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Experience in Canadian pricing environment, with demonstrated expertise to develop strategic pricing options and expertise to support reimbursement negotiations
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage people (AD*)
  • Comfortable and adaptive to working in a changing ambiguous environment
  • Bilingual (English and French) written and verbal skills an asset

The salary range for this position is CAD $147,305 - $190,630 annually. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary target annual bonus. Gilead determines base compensation by considering factors such as experience, qualifications, and geographic location. As a result, actual compensation may vary.
