Velixo builds Excel-native financial reporting and data automation tools used by hundreds of mid-market finance teams worldwide. Our software integrates with leading ERPs — Acumatica, Sage Intacct, MYOB Acumatica, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central — and our customers rely on us to handle sensitive financial data with absolute integrity. Information security is not a side function at Velixo; it is core to the trust our customers place in us.
The RoleBehind the product is a small set of custom business applications that run the company: the Partner Portal (our reseller-facing web app built on HubSpot CRM) and the Billing/Admin Portal (where organizations, tenants, users, licensing, and subscriptions are managed). These systems sit at the center of how partners sell Velixo, how trials and deals are created, and how customers are billed. They are not side projects — they are operational infrastructure, and we are looking for the person who will own them.
As Lead developer/Solutions Architect, you own the design, development, and operation of Velixo's internal and partner-facing software — most notably the Partner Portal and the Billing / Admin Portal. You will set the technical direction for these systems, write the code that matters most, and act as the senior technical owner who is accountable for their reliability, security, and evolution.
You will report to the COO and partner closely with R&D, Operations, Finance, Sales, and the Partner teams, who depend on these tools every day. This is a hands-on senior role: you are equally comfortable architecting a new module, reviewing a pull request, and integrating a third-party API, debugging a production incident, and translating a business need from the Operations Team into a shipped feature.
Because the people who rely on these systems work North-American business hours, this role operates in the Eastern Time Zone, and a candidate based in Eastern Canada is ideal.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwnership of Custom Applications (Primary Focus)- Own the Partner Portal and Billing/Admin Portal end-to-end — architecture, roadmap, delivery, quality, and day-to-day operations.
- Translate operational and commercial needs (partner workflows, trials, quoting, discounting, subscriptions, licensing) into well-designed, maintainable software.
- Be the senior technical decision-maker for these systems: make pragmatic build-vsextend choices and bring options with a clear recommendation, not just options.
- Maintain a healthy balance between shipping new capability and paying down technical debt.
- Define and evolve the architecture of our custom applications: front-end (React / TypeScript), ASP.Net Core MVC, C#, Node.js / Next.js back-end services, containerized with Docker and served behind our nginx reverse proxy.
- Design clean integration boundaries between the portals, HubSpot, the ERPs, telemetry, and our authentication / SSO layer.
- Set and uphold engineering standards: code review, testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure-by-default practices.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to other developers contributing to these systems.
- Write production code as the most senior individual contributor on these applications — this remains a building role, not a purely managerial one.
- Implement features across the stack, from the React UI through Node/Next.js services to the data layer (PostgreSQL).
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning the application, its integrations, and its infrastructure.
- Own the integration with HubSpot CRM, the system of record for the Partner Portal (companies, contacts, deals, quotes, line items, and partner roles).
- Build and maintain integrations with Acumatica and other supported ERPs — for example, automated trial provisioning, marketplace actions, and contract/subscription workflows.
- Integrate telemetry/usage data so partners and internal teams can see customer health, adoption, and usage.
- Maintain authentication and SSO flows across the portals and related components.
- Own deployment and operation of these applications across our cloud footprint (Azure / AWS, with supporting infrastructure on Hetzner).
- Stand up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting so issues are caught before users feel them.
- Provide escalation support for production issues in the applications you own and drive timely root cause resolution.
- Manage release processes, environments, and configuration with appropriate change control.
- Work directly with Operations, Sales, Partner, and Support teams to understand their workflows and prioritize the work that delivers the most value.
- Partner with R&D to stay aligned with the broader Velixo platform, shared services, and conventions.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage expectations on scope and timing.
- Document architecture, runbooks, and configuration to a standard a successor could follow.
- Identify and automate repetitive operational work.
- Continuously improve the reliability, security, and developer experience of the systems you own.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including senior or lead-level ownership of one or more web applications in production.
- Strong full-stack proficiency: React/TypeScript on the front end and Node.js/Next.js on the back end.
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating containerized services (Docker) and deploying to cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS).
- Solid experience integrating with third-party APIs and SaaS platforms — CRM integration (HubSpot or comparable)
- Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and designing data models for evolving business requirements.
- A track record of being the responsible technical owner for a system: making architecture decisions, shipping it, and keeping it running in production.
- Strong grasp of authentication, authorization / role-based access, and secure handling of sensitive business and financial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; comfortable working with non-technical business stakeholders.
- Ability to work core hours in EST.
- Experience integrating with ERPs (Acumatica, Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar).
- Familiarity with quoting, billing, subscription, or licensing systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tooling (e.g., Application Insights, Grafana / Loki).
- Exposure to AI-assisted or agentic development tooling and patterns (e.g., LLM APIs, the Vercel AI SDK, MCP).
- Bilingual French/English—a strong asset, especially for candidates in Québec.
- Experience in a SaaS or financial software environment that handles sensitive data.
- You treat software as a craft, not a ticket queue, and you take ownership of outcomes.
- You default to clarity, documentation, repeatability, and automation.
- You make pragmatic decisions in a fast-moving environment and bring recommendations, not just problems.
- You build strong working relationships across functions and translate business needs into solid technical solutions.
- You operate with a high degree of discretion: you will have privileged access to sensitive partner, customer, and financial data, and we trust you to use it accordingly.
- A high-trust, fully distributed team that takes engineering seriously.
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and group insurance.
- Modern equipment and the tools you need to do the work properly.
- Direct ownership of business-critical systems and a clear mandate to shape their future.
- Close collaboration with leadership and a real seat at the table for technical decisions.
