The Lead Android Developer will architect and deliver high-performance Android applications for live streaming and gamified fan experiences, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features.

Responsibilities:- Own the Android product experience end‑to‑end, from architecture and performance optimization to feature development and UI polish
- Lead development of Kotlin‑based Android applications that power live sports streaming, interactive features, and gamified fan engagement
- Architect and implement modern Android solutions using Jetpack Compose and the latest Jetpack libraries
- Optimize video playback performance, buffering behavior, and UI responsiveness for live streaming experiences
- Integrate observability and analytics tools such as Datadog and Firebase Crashlytics to maintain production‑grade reliability
- Partner closely with Agile product teams (Product Managers and Product Designers) to define priorities, make smart tradeoffs, and deliver features fans love
- Collaborate with iOS, connected TV, and backend teams to ensure consistent experiences across every platform where fans watch
- Drive efficient CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, improving build, test, and release workflows
- Lead and mentor Android developer, including third‑party partners, raising the bar for code quality, architecture, and engineering best practices
- Stay current with Android platform updates, UI/UX standards, and emerging technologies to keep our apps modern and competitive

Salary range: $130,000-$165,000 CAD

Qualifications Experience Preferred 6+ years of Android development experience, including 3+ years using Kotlin Track record of shipping high scale consumer digital products, preferably media, sports, or entertainment apps Deep understanding of Jetpack Compose, ViewModel, Navigation, Room, and other Jetpack libraries Experience integrating and managing Firebase services across multiple app modules Excellent understanding of Agile methodologies and backlog management, with the ability to translate product requirements into clear, actionable engineering tasks Passionate about sports, streaming technology, gaming and/or digital advertising industries Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product and Design and with engineers internally and externally Proven expertise debugging, profiling, and performance analysis skills (memory leaks, rendering time, etc.) Experience leveraging AI-powered tools and automation solutions to improve development efficiency, simplify debugging, and optimize workflows Experience with Amazon Fire TV and Android TV development Familiarity with video streaming pipelines (HLS, ad insertion, DRM, adaptive bitrate streaming, etc.) Prior experience working in a startup or entrepreneurial environmentBally's Interactive Toronto, Ontario, CAN Office
