This role is responsible for analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to support business decision-making across North American Commercial Bank. By working with cross-functional teams – including Finance, Strategy, Data Foundations and other business units – the individual ensures alignment on key metrics, reporting methodologies and analytics solutions.
A key focus off the role is to deliver accurate, timely and meaningful data insights while ensuring reporting consistency and usability across the organization. The individual will optimize, refine, automate, and scale analytics processes, helping to create efficient, repeatable reporting and decision-support tools. Additionally, they will collaborate with stakeholders to improve data-driven strategies and foster a culture of analytics-driven decision-making within North American Commercial Bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Insights: Identify trends, patterns, and relationships in data to support strategic decision-making. Utilize advanced analytics to transform raw data into meaningful insights.
- Reporting & Data Visualization: Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Python to present complex data in a clear, intuitive format. Ensure visualizations effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Automation & Scalability: Standardize and automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and scalability. Implement repeatable analytics solutions that enhance decision support.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work with different teams, management, and stakeholders to refine analytics solutions for maximum impact. Ensure that visualizations and reports align with business needs and user experience best practices.
- Documentation & Process Improvement: Maintain thorough documentation of data flows, systems, and analytics processes. Identify opportunities to optimize existing workflows and improve data management strategies.
- Training & Enablement: Develop and deliver training programs for non-technical users on self-service analytics tools, reporting best practices, and data interpretation. Provide guidance on maximizing the value of analytics tools.
- Problem Solving & Decision Support: Exercise sound judgment in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving data-related issues within given rules. Handle non-routine situations with a proactive and analytical mindset.
Qualifications
Foundational Level of Proficiency:
- Technical Design Optimization – Ability to refine and enhance analytics solutions for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Decision Making – Uses data-driven insights to support informed decision-making.
- Systems Thinking – Understands how analytics solutions fit into broader business processes.
Intermediate Level of Proficiency:
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills but prefers to use SQL, Python, Tableau, and Power BI for data manipulation, analysis, reporting, and dashboards.
- Planning & Organization: Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Data Visualization & Storytelling: Experience in data visualization, data storytelling, data mining, and illustration to create meaningful insights.
- Creative Thinking & Problem Solving: Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement to ensure analytics solutions meet business needs.
- Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and drive insights that influence business decisions.
Advance Level of Proficiency:
- Typically between 5 – 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary:
$68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
