Reporting to the Head of People Excellence, Canada and having responsibilities to the Labour Relations Lead, this role provides a comprehensive range of analytical, operational, and support services to the People & Culture function. The role combines labour relations expertise with People Excellence operations, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, supporting employee experience initiatives, and delivering foundational HR excellence.

The role serves as a key point of contact for unionized employees, Toronto site Managers, and internal stakeholders, providing guidance, coaching, and administrative support while driving the operationalization of People & Culture initiatives across Canada.

Main Responsibilities

Labour Relations Support (75%)

  • Act as first point of contact for Managers with unionized staff (Unifor Local 1701, IUOE Local 772), through our ticketing system in Service Now 

  • Administer collective agreement obligations, including JLMC meetings, job evaluation committees, Attendance Management Program, unionized recruitment processes, and contractual contributions.

  • Involved in the preparation for various dispute resolution processes, including but not limited to arbitrations, mediations, investigations and attending as required depending on the matters under review.

  • Ensure compliance with CLA(s), company policies, and provincial/federal legislation.

  • Back up for Labour Relations Lead

 

People Excellence Operations (25%)

  • Support execution of global and local People Excellence COE initiatives and processes.

  • Operationalize People & Culture programs, tools, and templates to enhance employee experience and ensure HR operational excellence.

  • Manage People & Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including feedback loops and process improvements.

  • Oversee legislative changes, policy updates, and procedural alignment.

  • Act as Tier 2 escalation for People & Culture inquiries via Service Now (SNOW) and other platforms.

  • Support data integrity, administrative processes, and coordination with third-party vendors (e.g., background checks).

Special Projects & Collaboration

  • Partner with Head, People Excellence, People Excellence Partners and COE teams to support strategic People & Culture initiatives.

  • Contribute to recognition award applications (e.g., Gender Parity, Top Employer) and enterprise-wide implementation plans.

  • Participate in HSE and site compliance initiatives as required.

  • Other projects as assigned

About You

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Labour/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a related field; Master’s degree in Industrial Relations preferred.

  • 1 - 3 years of labour relations experience in a unionized environment, including collective labour agreement (CLA) administration.

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR generalist, analyst, or specialist experience, with strong operational knowledge of HR policies and programs.

  • Strong knowledge of Ontario legislation, including Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), HRIS systems (Workday an asset), and data analysis.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Project management experience is a plus.

  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.

The salary range for this position is:

46,900.00 - 96,900.00

Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefits programs, and additional benefits information can be found through the (CA)LINKOR (US) LINK.
