Job Description
Eramosa Engineering, A CIMA+ Owned Company, is a progressive and growing company specializing in the delivery of critical infrastructure in our communities. Our team has a focus in municipal water / wastewater, electrical utilities, and renewable energy sectors as well as strategic pursuits in transit, transportation and mining. With over 25 years of experience spanning across all of our locations, we provide Electrical Engineering, System Integration, IT/OT, IoT services, and consulting to our client base across North America.
We are currently looking for a Junior System Integrator in Ontario that is looking to start their career. The ideal candidate is a new graduate or recent graduate looking to start full time in May 2025.
In this role you will be able to leverage your post secondary education in PLC programming, HMI development, and control system design. Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret control system schematics and develop Process Control Narratives and I/O Lists.
- Perform PLC and SCADA programming, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), site startup, commissioning, training, troubleshooting, and provide ongoing support.
- Contribute to automation projects and collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team the team for a successful implementation and client satisfaction.
- Support design projects by selecting the hardware and software needs, develop control system and communication network drawings, and other documentation.
- Technical report writing and custom user manuals to support the control systems we commission.
Ecology of the role:
- Based out of our office in Guelph, we offer a hybrid flexible work from home arrangements.
- Office setting as well as site visits to client facilities as required which can at times require hard hats, safety boots, and other personal protective equipment.
- Some travel is required.
- Valid Drivers license and access to reliable transportation is required.
Qualifications
- A 3 year college level technologist program in electrical engineering technology or automation, or a 4 year university level degree in a related field of study such as Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
- Eligible to work towards full OACETT membership or license to practice Engineering in Ontario (P.Eng designation or equivalent) is preferred.
- Through your educational experience, proficiency in PAC /PLC /RPU /RTU /DCS programming and SCADA /HMI programming. Hardware platforms preferred include Rockwell Automation Logix controllers, Emmerson RX3i, and Schneider Electric Modicon. Software platforms we often develop in include Inductive Automation’s Ignition, GE Proficy iFIX, AVEVA Wonderware, VTSCADA, and FactoryTalk platforms.
- Exposure to industrial communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, ProfiNet, MQTT, OPC, OPC UA, all considered an asset.
- Experience with Java programming, JavaScript, Python, CSS, RDBMS development (MySQL, SQL, Oracle, etc.), Crystal Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services, Actuate, or Oracle Reports is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematics is considered an asset.
- Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to complete tasks efficiently and independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
