Liferaft is looking for a highly skilled and visionary Junior Software Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced OSINT tools that empower organizations to extract valuable insights from open-source data. This role will be hybrid in Halifax, NS, or fully remote within Canada.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing our OSINT platform, working on scalable, high-performance applications that handle large-scale data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate is passionate about cybersecurity, intelligence gathering, and developing robust software solutions.
What you do as the Software Engineer Frontend at Liferaft
- Develop and maintain user-facing features using React and JavaScript
- Implement responsive and accessible UI components based on product and design specifications
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and learn best practices from senior engineers
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve frontend issues
- Contribute to improving frontend performance and usability
- Follow established development workflows, testing practices, and coding standards
Requirements
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with JavaScript (ES6+)
- Experience with React and component-based architecture
- Basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design
- Familiarity with Git version control
- Understanding of REST APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
Nice to Have
- Experience with TypeScript
- Familiarity with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, etc.)
- Exposure to modern frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
- Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and accessibility standards
