Minimum Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in Urban Design, Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
- Two (2) years relevant work experience, in a planning, building and/or engineering related setting.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, report writing, communication, presentation, conflict resolution skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Zoning By-Laws, Official Plans, municipal planning processes, planning principles and applicable legislation (including Planning Act, Provincial Planning Statement and Guidelines).
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential information.
- Proficient in Adobe Reader and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
- Advanced time management and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
- Demonstrated safe work practices.
- Valid G driver’s license and/or the ability to travel for site visits and between County offices and facilities as required.
- Experience working within a Planning Division in a municipal setting.
- Knowledge interpreting, administering development within the Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) framework.
- Membership, or candidate membership, in Ontario Professional Planning Institute (OPPI) and/or Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (CACPT).
- Experience utilizing City View software or similar electronic planning/ building permit processing software.
- Provide technical interpretation, review, advice, and recommendation for all planning applications (including consent, minor variances, zoning amendments, site plan control, related agreements, or the Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) framework).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
