The Internal & External Communications team, part of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Brand, Marketing & Communications, is looking for a Junior Communications & Engagement Manager.

As a financial institution and one of the most familiar brands in the Netherlands, working for the CoE requires the ability to work in a highly dynamic and complex landscape, servicing the wide base of ING customers as well as all product tribes and business lines within ING NL.

The team

As our new Junior Communications & Engagement Manager, you’ll join the Internal & External Communications team and report into the Head of Internal & External Communications.

The purpose of the team is to ensure a solid and consistent communication strategy, empowering storytelling, without discrepancy between the messages shared with employees and those conveyed to external audiences. Creating a sense of belonging and shared understanding for the strategy & culture among employees and external stakeholders fostering alignment, pride and advocacy. By integrating communications, we can create a harmonious and effective communications strategy that supports overall business objectives, enhances reputation, and fosters a positive organisational culture.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Communication plans: Execution of communication plans that align with the communication strategy and organisational goals.

  • Internal & External News Dissemination: Sharing important updates and news with both employees and external audiences (via socials) to keep everyone informed and engaged.

  • Leadership Communications: Crafting and delivering messages from senior leaders to align the organisation with its strategic goals and values.

  • Employee Engagement Programs: Developing initiatives and activities that foster a positive work environment and enhance employee motivation and satisfaction.

  • Brand/Employee Advocacy Initiatives: Encouraging employees to become ambassadors for the brand, promoting a positive image both internally and externally.

  • Training and Workshops: Organising educational sessions to enhance leadership communications / employees' communications skills, knowledge.

  • Feedback Collection and Analysis: Gathering and evaluating input from employees and stakeholders to improve communication strategies and overall performance.

  • Content Creation: Storytelling: Producing engaging and compelling content that effectively conveys the organisation's messages and stories.

How to succeed

Skills:

  • Content creation: proficiency in writing, editing, and producing engaging stories for both internal and external audiences.

  • Planning & hands-on execution: support development of clear, impactful communication strategies and effectively bring them to life through actionable plans that align with organisational goals.

  • Digital literacy: familiarity with communication software / tools, social media platforms, and analytics tools.

  • Interpersonal skills: strong ability to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.

  • Crisis management: experience in handling communication during crises and sensitive situations.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in internal and external communications, including corporate communications, employee engagement, public relations and marketing roles.

  • Proven track record of successful and impactful communication campaign implementation.

  • Experience in managing communication channels and platforms.

Degree:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Employee Engagement, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Advanced degree or certifications in communications or public relations can be a plus.

Capabilities:

  • Adaptability: ability to adjust communication strategy implementation based on feedback and changing circumstances.

  • Creativity: innovative thinking to create compelling and effective communication materials.

  • Analytical skills: proficiency in analysing communication effectiveness and making data-driven decisions.

  • Proactivity: taking initiative and acting in anticipation of future needs, or changes. Planning, looking for opportunities to improve situations, and taking control.

  • A salary indication of 4,368 - € 7,088 based on 36 hours per week, tailored to your qualities and experience
