March Networks is proud to be recognized as one of Ottawa’s Best Places to Work.

March Networks is an established global leader in the video surveillance industry and works with the world’s largest retailers and banking institutions. Our goal is to create a positive working environment where all of our employees can thrive. When you join our team, you’ll enjoy flexibility and support for a healthy work-life balance, as well as the professional development opportunities needed to advance your career. At March Networks, we value your hard work, creativity and your passionate desire to deliver only the best to our customers, partners and each other.

We are looking for a Junior Cloud Platform Software Developer to help build, automate, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications and platform services on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

You’ll gain hands-on experience in cloud engineering grounded in CNCF best practices — containerized microservices, declarative infrastructure, observability, and cost awareness. You’ll work closely with DevOps, SecurityOps, and QA teams to ensure our AWS platform is secure, testable, and cost-efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain services and APIs deployed on AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda).
  • Assist in writing and deploying Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline, ensuring good test coverage and automated validation.
  • Learn and apply FinOps principles — monitor AWS spend, optimize resource usage, and flag inefficiencies.
  • Participate in feature flag rollouts and safe deployments using LaunchDarkly.
  • Implement observability and logging using Amazon CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus/Grafana.
  • Collaborate with SecurityOps on IAM policies, encryption, and incident response.
  • Support debugging, testing, and continuous improvement of distributed AWS workloads.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in cloud application or backend development.
  • Basic hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Go, Java, or Node.js).
  • Understanding of containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Git-based workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking, REST APIs, and basic security fundamentals.

Nice to Have

  • Experience or curiosity about FinOps (AWS Budgets, Cost Explorer, Savings Plans).
  • Familiarity with CNCF tools (Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus).
  • Exposure to feature flag tools (LaunchDarkly, Split.io).
  • Experience writing automated tests for API or infrastructure validation.
  • Interest in contributing to open-source or internal reusable modules.

Soft Skills

  • Strong desire to learn cloud and automation technologies.
  • Curious and detail-oriented, especially around cost and performance optimization.
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys solving complex problems.
