Java Full-Stack Developer

Our team of engineers, at all levels, work with the business leaders in defining the product roadmap and come up with innovative solutions to grow the future of travel. We design and develop our FE/ back end systems and REST APIs that serve hundreds of millions of searches a day, collecting and parsing data across thousands of partners to get the best deals for our customers.
In this role you will get to:
Contribute to high-impact initiatives that power Priceline’s Search platform across web and mobile experiences.
Be part of a cross-functional agile team that continuously experiments, iterates and delivers on new product objectives.
Design and build low-latency, high-throughput backend services primarily in Java, supporting mission-critical transactional and search-driven workflows.
Develop and enhance gRPC/RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
Contribute to frontend components (React or similar modern frameworks) to support search experiences, API integrations, and performance optimization.
Write efficient SQL queries and leverage data to investigate issues, analyze performance, and support real-time system insights.
Participate in CI/CD practices, automated testing (unit/integration), and ensure code quality and reliability in production environments.
Collaborate closely with backend, frontend, ML, and product teams-contributing ideas, advocating for sound technical decisions, and delivering scalable solutions.
Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong proficiency in Java and backend development.
Solid experience building scalable services using Java, Spring Boot, and gRPC/REST APIs.
Comfortable contributing to frontend development using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar), with understanding of component-based architecture and API integration.
Strong SQL skills with the ability to compose efficient queries for debugging, analytics, and data validation.
Experience with search technologies such as Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar is a strong plus, including understanding of indexing, querying, and relevance tuning concepts.
Experience working with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git-based workflows.
Experience with developing on Cloud, especially GCP and AWS.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may be eligible for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.
The salary range for this position is $100,000- $120,000K CAD.
