Java Developer

We have an opportunity for a Java Developer to work with our team to collaborate with other technology teams to design, develop and implement software systems and solutions architecture critical to Moneris’ business operations. The identified talent will: a) perform research and development activities to advance platform technology; b) Ensures that the security, availability and technology strategy objectives are met; c) For hosted platforms, together with site reliability engineering, is responsible for the technical design and operations of the platforms.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to Sr. Manager, Software Development and Architecture

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

• Review and understand requirements, functional and technical specifications to support assigned product changes. Decompose business requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications and code for simple and moderately complex problems.

• "Requires expanded technical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities; has familiarity with product, applications and business requirements supported

• Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgement and precedents (e.g. creates test plans, address escalated technical issues, begins to perform peer code review)

• Develop and update comprehensive test plans on software development changes. Develop scripts according to the business specifications/designs. Assess risk associated with implementations, and develop "back out" plans before implementing changes in production. Anticipate problems and propose multiple solutions.

• Ensure all code is written, tested, integrated with the project codebase. Ensure quality of integration and testing activities through code and documentation quality to facilitate final delivery.

• Build solutions according to business specifications/designs that are supportable, scalable and achieve the aspiration of common assets. Maintain applications according to requirements which may involve modifications to existing scripts and workflow.

• Validate that production moves are executed, monitors production process after release.

• Conducts continuous product improvement through maintenance activities on existing products to correct errors in the original implementation, adding new features or re-architecting areas for performance improvement.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

• Bachelor's degree required in Software Engineering, Computer Science; or equivalent work experience in a Technology or business environment

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Java software development and / or software design

• Experience in Spring boot, Microservices.

• Java 11 version, Spring boot, Spring framework, Microservices, basics around SQL, Database, Message platform (like Kafka / JMS / MQ equivalent)

• Have experience in MS-SQL database.

• Have experience with Agile software development practices and tools

Nice-to-have...

• Understanding of payment systems and the merchant acquiring business
