Your role and responsibilities:

As an IT Systems Engineer at Xanadu, part of duties will be to support in daily IT operations and support, deploy and manage on-prem and cloud infrastructure, oversee user and application management, provide networking support and collaborate with our network engineer.

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues to deliver prompt and effective technical support to employees
  • Install and configure Linux, Windows and MacOS machines
  • Perform moves, adds and changes of software and hardware for all equipment.
  • Administer and maintain user accounts and permissions
  • Install and assist with testing of new application releases, enhancement requests, and bug fixes
  • Track and maintain IT inventories
  • Manage on-premise and cloud servers (mostly Linux), using ansible, bash and terraform
  • Maintain and improve the existing IT infrastructure monitoring.
  • Analyze and help drive the growth of our IT operations and processes.
  • Support network engineer in day to day tasks
  • Own, participate, and support project-based work

Basic qualifications and experience:
 

  • Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Diploma or post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related IT position
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux system administration
  • Experience with bare metal servers
  • Hands-on experience with networking devices
  • Some knowledge of Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation and troubleshooting
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure/high-paced environment.
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment
  • Willingness to be part of on-call rotation and weekend IT related activities
 

Preferred qualifications and experience:
 

  • Experience with one of the major cloud providers, AWS preferred.
  • Experience in security operations, incident response, vulnerability assessments, and network architecture design
  • Experience in setting up network Infrastructure, storage, and file share systems
  • Recognized certifications (AWS/Azure, Redhat, Networking, Security, etc)
  • Experience building and/or maintaining DNS and DHCP servers in an enterprise environment
  • Worked in a startup environment and understands the importance of wearing multiple hats
