What You’ll Be Doing

As an IT Project Manager, you will join the Digital Technology Project Management Office (PMO) to manage medium to large scale projects working collaboratively with various stakeholders including business, vendors, and technical resources. This role is an exciting and highly visible area of the bank and will be primarily supporting various infrastructure and ongoing maintenance initiatives that support the Digital Technology environments. You will work with various stakeholders to understand the technology direction of the bank and support the delivery of these initiatives which could range from a few months to a year in duration, with a varying range in budget depending on the initiative.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Project Management - Successfully deliver on project commitments by actively managing project schedule, scope, budget, quality, risks and issues, and maintaining appropriate levels of communication with stakeholders through verbal and written status. Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan. Apply your understanding of Application and Infrastructure project management methodologies. Use your experience and/or knowledge to assist your project team in delivering effectively and efficiently and following required CIBC methodologies and processes.  Support CIBC’s principle of being a low risk bank.

  • Collaboration - Help motivate the project team and maintain the momentum of the project against background of changing and occasionally conflicting priorities. Lead the team through problem resolution. Help build a trusting and safe environment where open communication help surface issues for faster resolution, and where mistakes represent learning opportunities, with an emphasis an problem solving.  

  • Project Coordination - Ensure all required internal and external resources are engaged in timely manner and have full understanding of scope, constraints and dependencies. Proactively identify anything that will take projects off schedule and find solutions to correct the problem. Monitor milestones, and ensure they’re completed according to timelines and budgets. Create and execute a project plan that is personalized for your team’s preferred mix of budget, time, and risk.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in  Project Management methodology, principles, and tools, within a minimum of 3 years experience within a PMO. You also have knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) and its various stages. It’s an asset if you have experience with vendor management and infrastructure project management, and any technology management experience within the Financial Sector.
