We are a growing technology-focused company looking for an experienced IT Manager / Systems & Infrastructure Lead to take ownership of our internal IT environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident working independently, solving problems, managing infrastructure, supporting users, and improving systems without needing constant direction.
This is not a junior role. We are looking for someone with proven experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to take responsibility for the health, security, and reliability of our technology environment.
Position Summary
The IT Manager will be responsible for managing our internal IT infrastructure, user support, network environment, Google Cloud infrastructure, and DevOps-related needs. You will be the primary person responsible for keeping systems running, supporting staff, managing vendors when needed, and ensuring our technology environment is secure, reliable, documented, and scalable.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a hands-on IT management, systems administration, infrastructure, cloud operations, DevOps, or senior technical support role and is comfortable being the go-to technical person in the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain company IT infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, access points, servers, cloud services, workstations, and related systems.
Provide hands-on Helpdesk and end-user support for approximately 30 employees.
Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure AD, email, user accounts, permissions, security policies, and related cloud services.
Manage and support Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, including compute resources, networking, IAM, storage, security controls, monitoring, backups, and cost management.
Manage network infrastructure, including switching, VLANs, routing, Wi-Fi, firewall rules, VPN access, and connectivity troubleshooting.
Support endpoint management, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, patching, antivirus/EDR, software deployment, and device lifecycle management.
Maintain backups, disaster recovery procedures, monitoring, documentation, and system health checks.
Assist with DevOps-related responsibilities, including Google Cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, repositories, development environments, automation, and system integrations.
Work with software development teams to support build, test, staging, and production environments.
Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud-based application environments.
Identify and resolve technical issues independently and proactively.
Improve internal IT processes, security standards, documentation, and support procedures.
Manage IT vendors, licensing, warranties, hardware purchasing, and service providers.
Ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed, including MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, least privilege access, secure cloud configuration, patching, and backup validation.
Plan and execute IT projects such as hardware refreshes, network upgrades, migrations, cloud improvements, DevOps improvements, security hardening, and automation initiatives.
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on IT experience in systems administration, infrastructure, network support, cloud administration, DevOps, or IT management.
Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of IT operations.
Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and related administration.
Experience managing switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, and general network troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of Windows workstations, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file permissions.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform / GCP, including some or all of the following: Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC networking, firewall rules, Cloud SQL, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, backups, and security configuration.
Experience supporting users in a business environment with professionalism and patience.
Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, MFA, patching, backups, access control, and cloud security.
Ability to document systems, processes, credentials, network layouts, cloud architecture, and support procedures clearly.
Experience with scripting or automation, such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, containers, scripting, deployment automation, or infrastructure-as-code.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritize issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Google Cloud certifications or formal GCP training.
Experience with DevOps platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Google Cloud Build.
Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, or Terraform.
Experience with RMM tools, ticketing systems, documentation platforms, and password management tools.
Experience working in a small or mid-sized business where you were responsible for a broad range of IT, infrastructure, cloud, and support duties.
Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud, Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL, or cybersecurity certifications are considered an asset.
