Data Scientist I (Junior Data Scientist)JOB PURPOSEThe Data Scientist I supports the data and software development teams by preparing datasets, building dashboards, and assisting in developing analytical and AI-driven solutions. This role helps translate data into insights that guide product development and business decisions. The ideal candidate demonstrates curiosity, attention to detail, and foundational technical skills in data analytics and machine learning, with a desire to grow in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESData Analytics & Reporting
- Collect, clean, and organize data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Build and maintain reports and visualizations to track product and operational metrics.
- Support senior team members in analyzing trends and preparing summaries for stakeholders.
AI Modeling & Machine Learning Support
- Prepare datasets for model training and validation.
- Implement, tune, and test machine learning models under supervision.
- Support data labeling, model monitoring, and performance tracking activities.
Data Infrastructure & Collaboration
- Partner with software engineers to ensure accurate data collection and storage.
- Follow data documentation and governance standards.
- Communicate findings clearly to teammates and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with emerging tools and techniques in analytics and AI.
- Participate in learning initiatives to expand skills in modeling, data engineering, and visualization.
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:
- 0–2 years of industry experience in data analytics, reporting, or machine learning.
- Basic proficiency in Python, R, or a similar programming language.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Understanding of databases and querying (SQL).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with Agile environments and version control tools (Git).
- Understanding of machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
