How You Will Contribute:

As an AI Documentation Co-op Student, you will play a key role in leveraging artificial intelligence to generate high-quality documentation based on engineering files, including design reviews, specification tables, block diagrams, and other technical materials. You will gain hands-on experience in prompt engineering, explore internal AI tools, and learn best practices for optimizing AI-generated results. Additionally, you will use Confluence to organize and publish your work, ensuring seamless collaboration and accessibility for engineering and product teams. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of AI and technical documentation, gaining valuable skills in automation, content creation, and knowledge management. 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize AI tools to generate technical documentation from engineering files such as design reviews, specification tables, block diagrams, and other relevant materials. 
  • Learn and apply prompt engineering techniques to optimize the quality and accuracy of AI-generated documentation. 
  • Explore and experiment with internal AI tools to identify the most effective workflows and methodologies. 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical content and ensure documentation aligns with project requirements. 
  • Use Confluence to organize, structure, and publish documentation for easy access and collaboration across teams. 
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and consistent. 
  • Provide feedback on AI tools and workflows to contribute to their ongoing improvement. 
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in AI and documentation practices to bring innovative ideas to the team.

The Must Haves:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, technical writing, and automation. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies. 
  • Familiarity with technical documentation formats and tools is an asset (e.g., Confluence, MS PowerPoint, MS Word). 
  • Basic understanding of networking systems, optical/routing technologies, or engineering concepts is a plus. 

Pay Range: The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
