The Opportunity:
BluMetric is seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-oriented intermediate Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team at our Ottawa Office. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact by ensuring accurate and timely financial operations while contributing to the overall success of the company. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work independently while supporting broader business objectives. You will play a key role in month end close, financial reporting and compliance. This is an existing vacancy within the organization.
Job responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and dashboards for Executive team.
- Perform variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Prepare or review monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
- Understand and assist with the review of subledger accounting entries by working closely with AR, AP, and the Project Accounting team.
- Manage transactions related to joint venture accounting including:
- Ensuring agreements are in place and properly setup in the system
- Coordinating with Project Accountants and Project Managers for accurate financial information
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly published financial statement and MD&A.
- Participate in the development of fiscal year budgets and forecasts to meet business goals.
- Participate in cross training with the payroll department to enhance process coverage and ensure continuity of payroll functions.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS guidance, company accounting policies, and internal control procedures.
- Support management in completing financial reports, special projects, and analyses.
- Proactively look for innovative processes & reporting improvements.
Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 7 years combined experience in full cycle accounting and financial reporting/analysis.
- Superior knowledge of Excel and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous improvements.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Demonstrated flexibility, strong commitment to meeting deadlines, and effective decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivator with ability to work independently.
