About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing periodic financial reporting, monthly control reconciliations and providing recommendation for the improvement of daily transaction processing. The Intermediate Accountant, Accounts Receivable will provide accounting and financial analysis services related to the custody and recording of all incoming contributions from government payroll and chargeback systems, plan members and sponsors as well as transfers from other pension plans.

What you’ll do

  • Provide a range of accounting and reconciliation services in the administration of pension contributions and special payments.

  • Process cash receipt and transfer transactions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the Trust.

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures for pension contributions and provide advice and help on accounting requirements.

  • Prepare and provide analysis for periodic financial reporting.

  • Assist with data validation, user acceptance testing, and systems automation and enhancements related to the financial and pension systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure clear understanding and adherence of all OPTrust’s policies, procedures, guidelines as well as living our values and fostering an inclusive culture.

What you bring

  • University or college education specializing in financial reporting/accounting.

  • Experience with key control reconciliations with working experience in a financial services industry.

  • Working knowledge of related accounting software applications, e.g., Oracle Financials, Workday Financials, including financial spreadsheets to effectively carry out tracking, reconciliation and reporting duties.

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices to provide accounting services for financial reporting.

  • Knowledge of accounting requirements to ensure transactions are processed accordingly and to provide assistance to ministries/agencies.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, Word, and Excel.

  • Mathematical and analytical skills to ensure proper processing of transactions and provide technical assistance.

  • Organizational skills to manage priorities in a deadline driven environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to provide information, discuss and resolve problems with ministries/agencies as well as communicate effectively with team members and other OPTrust staff.

The range of expected compensation for this position is $73,792.00 to $85,720.00 per year.
