ACCIONA is a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy, delivering innovative, forward-thinking solutions in over 40 countries. We’re proud to be shaping some of the most complex and transformative infrastructure projects in North America. In partnership with Metrolinx, ACCIONA is playing a key role in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), a 9.2-kilometre westward addition to Toronto’s Line 5 light rail transit network. This major infrastructure project includes seven new stations and installation of rail and systems under a progressive design-build model.
Beyond its technical scope, the ECWE project represents a significant investment in sustainable urban mobility, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5,800 tonnes annually and eliminate over 6.5 million vehicle trips each year when combined with the full Line 5.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team on a complex, high-value project that supports long-term regional growth and environmental sustainability. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact and advance your career with a global infrastructure leader, we encourage you to apply and grow with us.
Job Description
The Interface & Integration – Tunnel & Elevated Guideway Lead supports the definition, documentation, tracking, and closure of multidisciplinary internal and external interfaces across civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and systemwide elements specially for the Tunnel and Elevated Guideway design and construction works.
This role ensures seamless coordination between design and inputs provided by third parties and the TRP design and construction teams, maintains interface registers, facilitates collaborative workshops, and supports integration activities required to achieve construction readiness, system installation, and Testing & Commissioning milestones.
The position plays a critical role in keeping all technical disciplines aligned as the project progresses specifically for the Tunnel and Elevated Guideway design and construction works.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all interface and integration activities related to the elevated guideway, including structural elements, foundations, bearings, utilities, systems, and adjacent works.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between design teams, construction teams, stations, tunnels, systems, and third-party stakeholders for elevated guideway matters.
Maintain and manage the Elevated Guideway Interface Register, ensuring actions are clearly defined, assigned, tracked, and closed.
Coordinate integration of guideway design with alignment, trackwork, power, communications, signaling, drainage, utilities, and architectural elements.
Facilitate interdisciplinary workshops focused on constructability, staging, installation constraints, and technical risk closure.
Support reviews of IFC drawings, design packages, models, and specifications to identify conflicts, gaps, or impacts to adjacent structures and systems.
Ensure compliance with Metrolinx standards, municipal requirements, and all project design criteria affecting the elevated guideway.
Interface with systemwide teams (SCADA, S&TCS, COMMS, power supply, OCS/TPSS) to ensure elevated guideway readiness for installation and commissioning.
Work with the Construction Manager to ensure guideway interfaces align with field realities, sequencing, and access constraints.
Review design development against construction staging plans, erection methodologies, and crane/rigging logistics.
Support permitting and approvals involving utilities, roads, structural works, and structural tie-ins.
Monitor and support resolution of RFIs, NCRs, design changes, and technical clarifications related to guideway interfaces.
Coordinate system interfaces including cable routing, troughs, conduits, OCS supports, maintenance walkways, drainage elements, and future access requirements.
Validate as-built conditions and ensure interface documentation is updated, traceable, and properly handed over.
Other duties as required.
Support risk and mitigation planning related to alignment tolerance, structural fit-up, erection sequencing, access limitations, and third-party constraints.
Contribute to readiness for guideway energization, testing, and integration with downstream systemwide works.
Required Skills and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
8–12 years of experience on large-scale civil or rail transit projects, preferably with elevated guideway, bridge, or viaduct construction is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary interface management on complex transportation or megaprojects is preferred.
Strong understanding of civil/structural design, bridge erection methodologies, segmental or span-by-span construction, and systems integration.
Familiarity with rail systems: traction power, OCS/TPSS, S&TCS, COMMS, SCADA, and systemwide interfaces.
Proficiency with design review tools (Bluebeam, Navisworks, Civil 3D, Revit) and interface tracking systems.
Strong communication, coordination, and facilitation skills, with experience managing multiple stakeholders.
Ability to translate technical challenges into solutions that support construction, sequencing, and operational requirements.
