As the Innovation Lead at McKesson Canada, you will play a pivotal role as a senior thought leader, strategist, and visionary storyteller. This role is central to driving strategic initiatives that align with McKesson’s long-term objectives, positioning the organization for future success. By analyzing market trends, emerging technologies, regulatory shifts, and evolving customer needs, you will identify and execute opportunities to develop innovative products, services, processes, and business models. Your leadership will ensure McKesson Canada remains at the forefront of industry evolution, creating sustainable value for customers and stakeholders.Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction and portfolio development of innovation initiatives.
  • Integrate insights from market trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, competitive dynamics, and consumer behavior to craft forward-thinking strategies.
  • Continuously examine the external environment to identify transformative opportunities and anticipate potential threats to ensure strategic readiness.
  • Utilize scenario planning and future visioning to explore plausible future scenarios and validate opportunities.
  • Champion organization-wide innovation by facilitating idea generation and storytelling that aligns with strategic priorities and energizes teams around a shared vision.
  • Drive the creation of compelling, data-driven business cases that integrate people, processes, and technology, presenting a clear and persuasive path for investment.
  • Develop and evaluate strategic financial and operational feasibility cases, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Build and present detailed financial models and ROI analyses to effectively communicate the viability and impact of proposed innovations to stakeholders.
  • Design and oversee idea intake processes, including managing forums like the Innovation Council.
  • Partner with business units to align, refine, and expand the innovation portfolio, ensuring it reflects both strategic gaps and emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborate with various business units to develop and execute new opportunities that enhance customer value and drive business growth.
  • Streamline the advancement of ideas through the business case development process with speed and precision.
  • Mentor a team of individual contributors, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic innovation, business development, or related roles.
  • Consulting background highly desired
  • Visionary leadership with a proven track record of driving innovation and incubation for organizations​
  • Strategic thinking and ability to align innovation with overall business goals and strategy.
  • Strong executive presence with a proven ability to influence C-level stakeholders and secure strategic wins in high-stakes negotiations.
  • Proven ability to assess and integrate emerging market trends, technologies, and regulatory shifts into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with innovation budgets and ROI and business case development.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, evolving environment with a focus on achieving measurable results.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Location: Toronto or Mississauga

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$126,600 - $211,000
