Thrive Together.To learn more about who we are visit our website: www.teranet.caAbout the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Support Specialist to join our dynamic Operations Services Team, providing vital level 1 technical support and operational services for our Data Centre systems. Our team operates around the clock, across two data centre locations, with a shift schedule consisting of 3 x 12.5-hour shifts per week on a 4-week rotating basis, starting at 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM. While limited overtime and off-hours work may be necessary for specific projects and activities, reliable transportation is required as you will need to travel to assigned locations for your scheduled shifts.What You’ll Be Doing Data Centre Facilities
- Monitor, control, and report on the activities of site service technicians and hosted customer systems.
- Uphold Data Centre security standards in alignment with internal policies, PCI, COBIT, and governmental regulations.
- Lift and move materials to support site operations, including receiving and racking new server hardware.
- Manage server racking and removal tasks, including labelling and provisioning power, LAN, and SAN connections.
- Conduct regular monitoring and inspections of both facilities systems and server systems, escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure that Data Centre environments are consistently clean, documented, and presentable.
- Candidates with current RedHat RHCSA or equivalent, Microsoft Azure certifications, BigFix and automation experience using Ansible Tower will be given preference.
- Monitor and promptly respond to incidents and requests logged through the ServiceNow ITSM system.
- Provide first-line support for all Data Centre-based systems and applications, adhering to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Escalate and monitor incidents affecting production systems to ensure timely resolution or proper hand-off.
- Execute and document scheduled operational tasks within ServiceNow for seamless systems support.
- Oversee CommVault Backup processes and manage media, troubleshooting backup failures as necessary.
- Perform patching and basic administration of RHEL, Windows Server versions (2012, 2016, 2019, 2020,2022), including VMware ESX, Hyper-V, Azure, and physical servers using BigFix.
- Conduct patching and basic administration of IBM AIX LPAR and physical servers.
- Possess functional knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, and Active Directory for effective troubleshooting.
- Manage project operations related to server builds and decommissioning, ensuring all tasks are resource-efficient and executed accurately.
- Undertake other responsibilities as needed to adapt to the evolving business needs of the organization.
- Possess a University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience in the computing sector.
- 2-5 years of experience in an administrative/operations role within a 24/7 production setting, involving both data center and cloud environments.
- Consistently reliable performance even in challenging situations, with a focus on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership over the facilities environment, systems, and service quality.
- Handle all system issues and user requests in a professional and efficient manner.
- Capable of exercising sound judgment and justifying actions taken when necessary.
- Keep supervisors informed of matters that require approval or fall outside standard responsibilities.
- Strong verbal communication skills for providing phone support to application, server teams, and clients.
- Exceptional written communication skills needed to document daily activities and new procedures effectively.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively with individuals and groups in a constructive manner.
- Competent in executing and troubleshooting scripts.
- Operational familiarity with Azure, Hyper-V, VMware ESX, Control-M, Spectrum, ServiceNow, CommVault, BigFix, SolarWinds and Ansible is a valuable asset.
