About this Role

As an infrastructure engineer, you will play a critical role in developing, managing, deploying, and supporting the infrastructure used by Lightmatter as the company develops the next generation of computing technology. This role will put you at the intersection of hardware and software, and the forefront of the emerging field of photonic computing.

Come and help us build high-performance photonic systems. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying and providing support for critical compute, storage, networking, and tooling infrastructure for Lightmatter.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve the infrastructure: Develop and manage our compute, storage, and networking infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our R&D, engineering, sales, and operations teams.
  • Support end-to-end Infrastructure at Lightmatter: Maintain Lightmatter’s infrastructure strategy and security, interfacing with 3rd party service providers as needed, to ensure a best-in-class experience for all Lightmatter employees.
  • Collaborate with EDA companies: Work closely with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies to provide Lightmatter engineers with best-in-class tools and support.
  • Support innovative methodologies and flows: Assist in the automation, development, deployment, and support of innovative verification, physical design methodology, and CAD flows.
  • Manage tools and licenses: Oversee the management of tool licenses and versions, ensuring that any tool-related issues are quickly and efficiently resolved.
  • Partner with internal and external teams: Collaborate with our internal infrastructure team and cloud partners to ensure that all Lightmatter teams receive effective support when issues arise.
  • Work with the infrastructure leadership team to identify improvements in Infrastructure as LM grows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in cloud development or networking 
  • Must have 3+ years of experience scripting or programming in Python
  • Proven track record in developing and deploying secure compute, storage, and networking infrastructure in a cloud environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships, working closely with external partners developing, and supporting infrastructure, flows, CAD and EDA tools.
  • Proficient in software development with exposure to hardware design such as Design Verification and Physical Design methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Software, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering 
  • Electronic Design Automation (EDA) experience such as managing tools, scripting, writing wrappers, and creating automation on top of tools 
  • Familiar with scripting or programming in Bash and Terraform
  • Experience working in a startup environment and in the semiconductor industry
