The Azure Data Engineer is a technical leader in our Data & Analytics commercial data engineering team. Responsibilities include the design, build, optimization, and maintenance of experiments, prototypes and products across Four Seasons Microsoft Azure’s Data Platform including Databricks.
The Azure Data Engineer will play a key role in enabling Four Seasons to unlock actionable insights and business value through modern, innovative technologies across our enterprise data platforms. This role will be responsible for designing and developing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes, including the creation of custom data pipelines.
As a core member of the Data Engineering capability within the IT Delivery team, the engineer will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to define requirements, use cases, and desired outcomes. The engineer will be responsible for building, configuring, securing, migrating, optimizing, and refactoring data platform solutions across Azure, Databricks and Informatica Cloud ecosystems. This includes work across a range of modern data architecture components such as data ingestion, integration, curation, storage, Delta Lake, data warehouse, lakehouses, and data modeling.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. They should be adept at translating business knowledge into scalable and effective technical solutions, with a focus on service excellence and continuous improvement.
This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto Corporate Office, reporting to the Senior Director, Data Engineering. This role involves interactions with internal executive stakeholders and project sponsors, technical operations and development teams, Four Seasons IT, end-user contracts and product users. Externally, the role will interact with various Four Seasons partners and data solution providers, Microsoft, and source data providers.
Key Activities
Data Engineering
Design, develop, and test scalable data processing solutions (both batch and streaming) using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Delta Lake, and Informatica, following best practices for reliability and performance.
Write optimized, reusable, production-level PySpark, Python & SQL code, and build efficient data integration pipelines using Informatica Cloud.
Implement dimensional data models to support analytics and reporting and develop tabular models in Power BI Semantic Model and Power BI Desktop/Service for self-serve BI capabilities.
Integrate enterprise data governance and quality tools—including Informatica IDQ, CDGC, and RDM—across cloud and on-premises systems, including Delta Lake and data warehouse platforms.
Apply and advocate best development practices for both batch and real-time streaming architectures to ensure scalability and robustness.
Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, manage work through Jira (including story creation and defect resolution), and document all development efforts in Confluence.
Identify opportunities for architectural enhancements and recommend solutions to improve the scalability, performance, and maintainability of the data platform.

Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Azure data engineering ecosystem, including ADF, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure Analysis Services (AAS), Cosmos DB, Function Apps, and Logic Apps
Expertise in SQL and strong understanding of core data warehousing concepts and architecture
Hands-on experience with Informatica data integration tools including PowerCenter, IICS, and IDMC
Advanced programming skills in Python, Scala, PySpark, and Spark SQL for data processing and transformation
Experience in building and supporting Power BI reports and Microsoft Power Platform solutions
Proficient with DevOps practices using GitHub and Azure DevOps for CI/CD and version control
Skilled in handling large-scale datasets and optimizing data processing pipelines
Comfortable with process improvement, documentation, and collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira
Working knowledge of technical design and helpdesk support tools including Microsoft Visio, Visual Studio, Lucidchart, and Draw.io
Experience, Education and Professional Qualifications
University or higher degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Technology
Completion of Databricks Associate Spark Developer or Databricks Associate Data Engineer or Databricks Professional Data Engineer Certification
Completion of Azure Fundamentals and Azure Data Engineer Certifications
5+ years of IT industry experience with the data related projects.
Minimum 4+ years of experience in ETL development, data modeling, Datawarehouse design and development, data migration related projects.
Very good understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling concepts, performance improvement
2-3 years’ experience in Data Engineering, Visualization and Analytics in Azure environments using Azure Databricks, Informatica, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Function Apps, Analysis Services and Power BI
Desired to have 2-3 years’ experience in AI/ML projects and implementations
This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
