Overview

At Recharge, we’re on a mission to make payments simple and subscriptions seamless for merchants everywhere. As an Implementation Engineer, you’ll be the technical lead helping merchants bring their subscription vision to life. You’ll partner closely with merchants and internal teams to plan, build, and launch solutions that are both technically sound and optimized for growth.

This role sits at the intersection of front-end development, API solutioning, and project leadership. You’ll collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to design best-in-class implementations, troubleshoot complex integration challenges, and ensure every launch sets the foundation for long-term success.

If you love solving hard problems, writing clean code, and helping customers unlock the full power of a platform — you’ll fit right in.

Please note: this is a hybrid role, based out of our Toronto office (downtown in the Core). 3 days a week in the office is expected.

What you’ll do

  • Lead full-cycle technical implementations — from scoping to launch — ensuring each project is delivered on time, on spec, and with a high bar for quality.
  • Design and deliver scalable technical solutions that combine Recharge APIs, SDKs, and front-end frameworks to power subscription commerce experiences.
  • Write, review, and guide front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and templating frameworks like Liquid) to support custom storefront and checkout experiences.
  • Collaborate directly with merchant developers to integrate Recharge into existing tech stacks, troubleshoot issues, and align on architecture decisions.
  • Serve as a technical advisor, helping merchants and internal teams understand platform capabilities, API workflows, and integration best practices.
  • Develop and document repeatable patterns, tools, and code snippets that improve implementation speed and consistency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to streamline the merchant journey and identify product and process improvement opportunities.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Business field (Computer Science, Engineering, or related preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical implementation or integration projects in SaaS or eCommerce environments.
  • Hands-on front-end coding experience — strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with templating frameworks (Liquid, Handlebars, etc.) a plus.
  • Proficiency with APIs — able to design, implement, and debug RESTful integrations, including authentication and data mapping.
  • Familiarity with development and debugging tools such as Postman, Chrome DevTools, and Git.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence), and SaaS project management tools.
  • Strong data fluency — comfortable with spreadsheets, formulas, and macros for tracking and analysis.
  • Awareness of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor) and enthusiasm for using them to boost efficiency and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both developers and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus points for

  • Prior experience working in eCommerce, payments, or a subscription-based SaaS environment.
  • Exposure to Shopify or other major eCommerce platforms.
  • Experience mentoring others or contributing to technical documentation and internal tooling.
