Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist manages various aspects of the HR function in multiple Eataly stores including but not limited to: payroll, proactive employee relations, interpretation of policies, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, terminations. Reports to the Area Human Resources Business Partner (Area HRBP) and manages one direct report, HR Coordinator. This is a multi-unit position that requires travel between all Eataly stores across Toronto.

  • Collaborates with the Area HRBP to deploy a fully integrated People strategy from acquisition to exit
  • Acts of the first point of contact for employee relations in assigned stores
  • Serves as a fairness advocate and proactively manages employee relations issues: hearing and resolving employee grievances, advises employees and managers, and supports managers during employee meetings, as necessary
  • Leads workplace investigations from start to finish including drafting investigation plans, taking statements, drafting investigation reports, and informing team members of investigation outcomes
  • Works with managers to make coaching and development of employees a daily activity. Facilitates regular training sessions for managers on coaching and development
  • Supports the Talent Acquisition Partner with all aspects of the recruitment process using the Applicant Tracking System
  • Prepares employees for proper cultural assimilation through onboarding and new hire orientation
  • Supports Payroll and Benefits Specialist with payroll functions for assigned stores
  • Supports Payroll and Benefits Specialist with tasks related to employee leaves, STD/LTD claims, and WSIB reporting
  • Drives awareness and adoption of broad benefits offerings at Eataly
  • Drafts and reviews employee documents including corrective actions and termination letters
  • Conducts and analyzes employee check-ins exit interviews to identify and recommend improvements to existing processes
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements
  • Supervises the HR Coordinator
  • Supports the Area HRBP with metrics and data analysis
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in retail and/or hospitality
  • 3 + years of experience in managing employee relations in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of all components of HR including systems, databases and metrics
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills

COMPENSATION

  • Compensation for this role is CAD $70,000.00 annually
