As the Human Resources & Workday Product Owner, you will own the HR product backlog and orchestrate delivery across cross‑functional teams so that solutions meet requirements and realize benefits. You will remove obstacles as they arise, handle escalation, risk, and issue tracking, and communicate progress. Acting as the techno‑functional Workday expert and primary HR/IT liaison, you will align scope, design, and features—and periodically lead Business/Systems Analysts in specification, testing, and data profiling. What You Will Do:

  • Lead HR Solution Delivery: Direct techno-functional efforts for HR projects, major initiatives, and enhancements.

  • Product Backlog Management: Define, prioritize, and communicate the HR product backlog, ensuring stakeholder alignment.

  • Project Leadership: Guide project teams and resources to deliver solutions on time, fostering accountability and a positive team environment.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with HR Solutions and business teams to translate strategic imperatives into requirements and scalable Workday configurations.

  • Design & Integration: Architect and bridge downstream integrations, ensuring seamless end-to-end HR processes.

  • Solution Design Facilitation: Lead design sessions, present options, and deliver impact assessments to senior leadership.

  • Functional Expertise: Provide guidance during design, build, testing, and implementation of system enhancements.

  • Gap Analysis & Advocacy: Identify functional gaps, risks, and advocate for business needs throughout solution development.

  • Risk Management: Proactively communicate risks and contingency plans.

  • Agile Practices: Lead sprint planning and review during prototyping phases.

  • Technology Strategy: Assess HR technology needs, promote new strategies, and champion automation/AI adoption.

  • Quality Assurance: Coordinate system integration and user acceptance testing to ensure solutions align with requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of new Workday features, standardize processes, and foster a culture of innovation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with architecture, operational, and development teams to ensure solution compatibility and successful transition to operations.

  • Escalation & Support: Serve as the escalation point for critical system issues and coach teams in troubleshooting.

Who You Are:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Computer Engineering, MBA) or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 7 years in HR systems implementation (Workday, Oracle, SAP), with 5+ years in a lead role.

  • Deep techno-functional Workday expertise in complex HR environments.

  • Strong understanding of Workday security, Workday calculated fields, and SaaS toolsets.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver quality solutions.

  • Advanced communication, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Experience with Agile delivery, Scrum Master, and ITIL v3+.

  • Continuous improvement mindset and advocacy for change.

Preferred:

  • Professional HR designation (CPHR, CHRL, CHRP, CHRE).

  • Experience with Neocase, complex systems architecture, automation/AI, and PMP/CSM certifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based, with occasional travel between regions.

  • High visibility and impact; decisions affect integrated business processes.

  • Indirect leadership of diverse HR solution teams.

Physical Requirements:

Include but not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

For Ontario, Canada only:

Basepay ranges from Minimum 111,870 CAD to Maximum 152,000 CAD based on experience, skills and capabilities.
