THIS IS A FULL TIME CONTRACT POSITION FOR A PERIOD OF 1 YEAR.
Summary of Objective:
To lead the HR function to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business. To proactively advice on best practice HR and take a hands-on role in dealing with case work. To have a clear understanding of how the organization operates, its business requirements and commercial objectives. To support the people management functions that underpin the business culture. The broad areas include employee matters, recruitment & selection, compensation and benefits, reward, professional growth, communications and performance management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.
- Strategic HR Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership, aligning HR programs with business priorities and fostering a culture that reflects PCI values.
- Employee Relations: Manage employee concerns, including absences, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and workplace wellness. Monitor employee satisfaction and recommend improvements.
- Performance Management: Coach and support managers in driving employee performance, development, and potential.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for direct labor roles, manage talent reviews, bench development plans, and succession planning.
- Onboarding & Integration: Ensure all new hires, including temporary workforce members, are fully assimilated into PCI culture, standards, and core processes.
- Total Rewards & Compensation: Advise employees on Canadian benefits and guide managers on pay, promotions, and compensation strategy. Lead compensation reviews and projects.
- HR Policy & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and processes in accordance with Canadian labor laws and PCI group practices. Ensure compliance with ESA, OHSA, and other HR regulations.
- People Operations & Reporting: Provide accurate HR data and reports to departmental managers, assist with HR initiatives, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with the General Manager, US-based HR teams, Payroll, and Employee Health & Safety. Act as a key liaison for HR site leaders across PCI locations.
- Leadership & Organizational Development: Drive workforce planning, diversity & inclusion efforts, leadership coaching, and change management initiatives.
- Conflict Resolution & Employee Support: Handle complex HR issues, ensuring fair resolutions that align with company policies and employment law.
- HR Budget Management: Develop and manage the site HR budget in coordination with site leadership and corporate finance.
- Continuous Improvement & Learning: Attend workshops, virtual training, and industry events to stay updated on HR trends. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within HR operations.
- Global HR Leadership Engagement: Contribute to PCI’s global HR leadership team, identifying areas for development and improvement within the HR function.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned, which may require occasional extra hours and/or weekend work. Maintain compliance with PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies.

Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
- Basic Mathematical Skills
- Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.
- Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
- High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.
- High Standard of Report Writing.
- Experience of working within a multi-national organization.
- Strong understanding of Canadian labor law.
- Knowledge of Canadian and International employment law.
Preferred:
- Ability to effectively present information to various people as the job requires.
- Ability to work independently and/or part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
- CIPD or equivalent qualification.
- Trained in coaching or similar.
