The HR Coordinator is a versatile, hands-on HR professional who supports the broader HR team in delivering end-to-day HR services across the employee lifecycle. This role flexes across employee relations, recruitment, talent development, HR operations, and HR systems, contributing to a consistent, compliant, and data-driven HR function in a fast-paced, project-based construction environment.The role requires strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to combine people-centric HR support with strong systems, reporting, and analytical capability.
Job Description
- Act as a key partner to the HRBP and HR Manager in implementing HR strategies, programs, and policies aligned with project and business priorities.
- Provide day-to-day HR guidance to employees and managers on HR processes, policies, and employment matters.
- Support the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, internal movements, performance processes, and offboarding.
- Prepare and maintain HR documentation such as employment contracts, letters, amendments, and confirmations.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations inquiries and support case management, escalating complex matters to the HRBP or HR Manager.
- Support recruitment activities across professional, technical, and site-based roles, including job posting coordination, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
- Maintain recruitment trackers and dashboards using Excel and SharePoint, ensuring visibility on time-to-fill, hiring status, and internal mobility.
- Support onboarding coordination to ensure new hires have a structured and consistent experience.
- Support learning and talent development initiatives, including onboarding programs, training coordination, and skills development activities.
- Assist with performance management cycles, probation reviews, and feedback processes.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and HR projects led by the HRBP or HR Manager.
- Support the development, documentation, and maintenance of HR SOPs, process maps, and tools housed in SharePoint.
- Support leave management processes and ensure accurate documentation and tracking.
- Ensure HR practices comply with Canadian employment legislation, internal policies, and construction industry requirements.
- Partner with payroll, benefits, finance, and IT teams to ensure smooth employee lifecycle transitions and data accuracy.
- Any other ad hoc task assigned by the HRBP or HR manager
Required Skills and Competencies
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of progressive HR experience in a assistant, coordinator, or advisor role, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting employee relations, recruitment, and HR operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday or similar HRIS.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data validation, dashboards).
- Experience supporting or building reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Experience managing HR documentation, trackers, and collaboration sites in SharePoint.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills with a high level of discretion and attention to detail.
This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $75,000–$85,000 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
