Our Global HR Compliance Advisor will serve as a connection point facilitating, collaborating and communicating to guide corporate HR compliance across the global HR team.
Reporting to the HR Programs Director, the successful candidate will provide tactical operational support while monitoring adherence to requirements by conducting research, educating on guidelines, policies, systems, and processes.
An approachable, curious, and engaging professional, the successful candidate will be highly-detail oriented with a passion for interpreting and applying legislation. The team member thrives when explaining complex information to various stakeholders to gain buy-in, is disciplined in maintaining records and sharing information. By tracking outside regulatory requirements and evolving internal policies and procedures to align with the business and HR department requirements in our unique operating model, this role is an integral part of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational responsibilities to support success of Global HR Compliance Program.

  • Assist with evolution and maintenance of Global HR Compliance plan.

  • Provide interpretation, guidance and advice on corporate compliance including: legislation, regulation and policy requirements during regular course of business, M&A due diligence, new business integration and client RFPs.

  • Maintain and evolve corporate HR policies and operational procedures:

    • Conduct research to identify and analyze compliance requirements.

    • Consult stakeholders and draft and action plans to support changes

    • Suggest updates to processes, tools and resources to support compliance initiatives

  • Maintain compliance-focused digital resources in the HR Library and Harris Links;

  • Deliver applicable compliance training including: new hire compliance orientation and ongoing employee/management compliance training.

  • Monitor progress and evaluate the impact of compliance training programs and initiate modifications to the program, as required.

  • Complete compliance risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate corrective and follow-up actions.

  • Facilitate nomination, appointment and accountability of regional HR Compliance Committee members;

  • Establish and maintain HR Compliance Committee including regular meetings through scheduling, agenda and speaker preparation and stakeholder feedback;

  • Support employee reporting channels to provide employees with a way to report without fear of reprisal.

  • Conduct preliminary review and inquiry to clarify and escalate alleged HR compliance violations for resolution.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to manage records and communication ensuring proper reporting of violations and potential violations to authorized external agencies.

  • Collaborate with systems and services team to evolve HR processes, work flows and procedures, recommending improvements to tools and systems;

  • Draft HR Compliance communications and assist with distribution;

  • Lead internal compliance audits and coordinate with external regulatory agencies for audits, where necessary.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders for corporate projects; 

  • Perform special projects or other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations or Business Administration;

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a role responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance;

  • Minimum of 5 year of Human Resources experience;

  • Able to read and interpret legislation, regulations and other legal documents;

  • Knowledge of various compliance frameworks;

  • Proven experience with driving improvements in regulatory compliance;

  • High proficiency in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), experience with WorkDay is an asset;

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MSTeams, Sharepoint);

  • HR designation attained or in progress;

  • Bilingual English/French is an asset.
