Job Description

 

  • Leading the design team in the preparation of designs, technical reports, contract plans, and documents required for the delivery of the Ministry of Transportation’s multi-year highway construction program.
  • Monitoring overall work progress and technical performance on projects to ensure timelines and targets are being met.
  • Providing mentorship, technical guidance, support, and oversight to other engineers and technical staff working on your projects.
  • Ensuring that corporate and client QA/QC practices are completed on all projects.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders;
  • Coordinating with clients, approval agencies, utility companies, contractors, etc.
  • Preparing proposals, project work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ensuring adherence to design standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentoring and developing junior design staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and P.Eng. designation required. 
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in highway design and project management. 
  • Proven ability to lead design teams and prepare technical reports and contract documents. 
  • Proficient in highway design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation). 
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and design standards. 
  • Experience preparing project budgets, schedules, and proposals. 
  • Skilled in mentoring junior staff and managing client relationships. 
  • Effective at coordinating with stakeholders, agencies, and contractors. 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Ministry of Transportation projects is an asset.
