Brickeye leverages the power of data from construction to drive risk mitigation and productivity gains. We are a fast-growing construction technology company developing the world’s most advanced IoT-based risk mitigation platform for water damage mitigation, concrete quality / defect control, and real-time site intelligence. We protect construction projects from avoidable loss, reduce the total cost of risk, and help asset owners, general contractors, and insurers deliver projects on time and on budget.
The RoleAs Brickeye scales across North America, we are looking for our first dedicated Head of Talent - someone who will own and professionalize the entire hiring function. This is a foundational role: you will build the recruiting engine from the ground up, establish best practices, and ensure that every hire we make strengthens our team and accelerates our mission. If you thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and are passionate about finding and securing exceptional people, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.
🧭 Key Responsibilities- Own the full-cycle recruitment process across all departments, from requisition intake and scorecard development through sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
- Partner with hiring managers and senior leadership to define headcount plans, role requirements, and hiring priorities aligned with business objectives and approved budgets.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve structured hiring processes, interview frameworks, and evaluation criteria.
- Manage and optimize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring pipeline hygiene, candidate communication, and data integrity across all stages.
- Identify, deploy, and manage AI-native recruiting tools and agents to augment sourcing, candidate screening, and interview scheduling, continuously evaluating their effectiveness and ensuring they enhance your judgment.
- Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines for high-priority and hard-to-fill roles, leveraging sourcing tools, networking, university partnerships, and industry events.
- Develop and execute Brickeye’s employer branding strategy to attract top-tier candidates, including managing the company’s presence on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, job boards, and at industry events.
- Conduct screening interviews and coordinate the full interview process, ensuring a best-in-class candidate experience from first touchpoint to onboarding.
- Train and coach hiring managers and interviewers on behavioral interviewing techniques, scorecard evaluation, and legal compliance in hiring.
- Track, analyze, and report on key recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, pipeline conversion, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness) to inform strategy and demonstrate ROI.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to manage offer approvals, compensation benchmarking, and onboarding logistics.
- Stay current on talent acquisition trends, tools, and best practices, including AI-native recruiting technologies, and integrate them into Brickeye’s hiring workflow.
- Ensure all hiring practices comply with applicable employment legislation in Canada and the United States.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition or recruiting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or solo-ownership capacity building a hiring function.
- Proven track record of hiring across multiple functions (technical, commercial, operations) in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
- Deep knowledge of structured interviewing methodologies; experience with topgrading or similar A-player frameworks is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ATS platforms (Breezy HR, Greenhouse, Lever, Rippling, or similar) and sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, etc.).
- Strong understanding of employment law and hiring compliance in both Canada and the United States.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Data-driven mindset with experience tracking and optimizing recruiting KPIs.
- Experience in construction technology, IoT, SaaS, or related B2B industries is a significant asset.
- Bachelor’s degree required; HR certifications (CHRP, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) are a plus.
