Role Description

We're looking for an experienced Head of HR & Talent Acquisition to help us shape and scale our people operations, fostering a culture that attracts, retains, and empowers top talent.

Big Viking Games is on a transformational journey in 2025 that will change the way we work and deliver value to our fans (players). We have recently changed over our executive leadership team, and are looking for a seasoned HR professional to partner with our new CEO and CTO to fix and turn around our people processes, culture, and employee experiences. If you're a hands-on leader with a proven track record of transforming workplace culture and scaling HR operations in high-growth environments, we'd love to connect with you. What You’ll Do

  • Define and Implement Culture Initiatives: Assess our current culture, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Drive Talent Acquisition Excellence: Build scalable hiring processes that attract top talent while ensuring alignment with our company values and long-term goals.
  • Develop HR Frameworks: Establish HR policies and programs that support career development, performance management, and a positive employee experience.
  • Build and Leverage People Data Insights: Utilize HR analytics to generate actionable insights, enabling data-driven decisions around hiring, retention, performance, and overall employee well-being.
  • Champion Diversity & Inclusion: Create initiatives that foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work.
  • Act as a Strategic Partner: Collaborate with leadership to align people strategies with business objectives, ensuring our people are at the heart of our success.
Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Certifications such as Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or equivalent are a plus.
    • 6+ years of HR and Talent Acquisition experience, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.
    • Proven experience in building and scaling HR functions, including recruitment, culture development, performance management, and employee engagement.
    • Demonstrated success in implementing HR technology and analytics tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
    • Track record of fostering a strong company culture, aligning HR strategies with business objectives, and enhancing employee experience.
    • Strong understanding of Canadian employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
