Government and Geopolitical Relations advises Nokia's Group Leadership team and Board of Directors on geopolitical issues that affect Nokia's business. It advises legislative bodies and governments on issues relating to Nokia's business interests, particularly with relation to telecoms policy issues. It also acts as an interface between Nokia Defence and governments.
The role of Head of Government Relations for Canada is to ensure alignment between Nokia's global strategy and Canadian federal and provincial governments, particularly where regulation, innovation, funding, and partnership opportunities are concerned.
Ensure that Nokia’s engagement with the Government and Provinces of Canada is at a scale and depth for a global technology company with deep existing routes in Canada. Topics could include areas as diverse as cybersecurity, supply chain resilience, trusted networks, defence futures, 5G, quantum encryption and trusted vendors.
Create opportunities for Nokia’s sales teams through direct engagement with Canadian ministers, officials, and agencies.
Advise Nokia’s Global Leadership Team on the impact of world events on Nokia’s business in Canada
Create policy advocacy material to advance company business goals.
Develop engagement strategies and advocacy to influence Canadian government opinions as appropriate.
Leverage Nokia's considerable Canadian presence to gain Canadian government support for global issues.
Qualifications- At least 10 years of experience in Canadian public policy, government relations, or public service, with significant experience engaging federal government institutions.
- Experience working at the Director level or above in government, or in an equivalent senior policy or government relations role.
- You can articulate how Canada reaches its investment decisions, and have evidence of an ability to connect with Federal and Provincial ministries.
- Proven ability to understand how geopolitical factors affect the business environment that Nokia operates in, globally, and make it relevant for Canada.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French. English is Nokia's default language. French will allow you to operate effectively in Canada’s Francophone communities.
- An ability to advocate successfully in person and in written contribution with strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience handling geopolitical risks and opportunities.
- An enthusiasm for or understanding of communication technologies, including areas such as cybersecurity, supply chain resilience, trusted networks, defense communications, 5G, quantum encryption and trusted vendors.
