Guide Editor - The Rundown

An opportunity to join an exciting, well-funded and fast-growing creator economy business.

Electrify is a dynamic new digital media company that invests in and scales creators with an established YouTube presence. We have invested in various leading channels and The Rundown is one of the leading channels in our portfolio.

The Rundown is the world’s largest AI community, informing millions of people around the world about everything going on in AI, why it matters, and how you can apply it. Our daily newsletter and social media channel engage with millions each day, and our AI University gets hands-on and educates thousands of members on using AI tools.

Come and build the future of media with us!

About the role

The Guide Editor will work closely with our education team to produce video guides for Rundown AI University, our library of practical screen-share and talking-head tutorials about AI tools and workflows. You'll own guide edits from raw recording through final delivery, including motion graphics, screen callouts, audio cleanup, pacing, and visual polish.

This is a remote contract role. It starts at one to two guides per week and can ramp toward three to five once you're consistently hitting the quality and delivery bar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit for clarity: Take talking-head and screen-share recordings and turn them into concise, easy-to-follow tutorials.

  • Tighten the cut: Select the strongest takes and remove false starts, repetition, dead air, and irrelevant detours without losing important instructions.

  • Motion graphics: Build strong openings and create text animations, screen callouts, transitions, and supporting visuals in Adobe After Effects that make the lesson easier to follow.

  • Polish the edit: Uphold quality standards with appropriate colour, audio cleanup, and a final QC pass on spelling, visual continuity, privacy, and playback before export.

  • Work from the brief: Follow the guide brief and brand references, and flag unclear instructions, missing assets, private information, or source issues instead of guessing.

  • Deliver on schedule: Ship review cuts on time, apply consolidated feedback accurately, and prepare the approved final master in the requested delivery format.

  • Hand off clean files: Return organised, relinkable Premiere Pro and After Effects project files with clearly named sequences, assets, and versions, plus any cutdowns, replacement exports, or revision notes included in the agreed scope.

  • Communicate proactively: Keep progress, questions, capacity, and delivery timing visible in Slack, and flag a possible delay before the deadline with a recovery plan.

Skills and experience

  • A strong portfolio of educational, product-demo, creator, SaaS, or YouTube tutorial work.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with strong working proficiency in After Effects for motion graphics and compositing.

  • Comfortable with Adobe Dynamic Link, MOGRTs, and Media Encoder, plus Frame.io for version delivery and time-coded feedback, Slack for asynchronous collaboration, and Descript when a project uses transcript-based review.

  • Experience combining presenter footage, screen recordings, product UI, and motion graphics.

  • Strong judgment about pacing, instructional clarity, and visual hierarchy, with editorial instincts that preserve factual meaning and instructional steps.

  • Strong quality control for audio, color, spelling, visual continuity, privacy, and final playback.

  • A workstation and internet connection that can handle 4K source media and dependable renders.

  • A strong communicator and collaborator who pays close attention to detail and is comfortable owning work.

  • An interest in AI, tech, and digital media.
