Job Description

Program Overview

This 2-year program consists of three tailored credit rotations across different Commercial and Wholesale credit adjudication teams with the duration of each rotation ranging from 6 to 9 months. During these rotations, you will gain exposure to an assortment of different borrowing requests and learn how to evaluate same.

Throughout the program, you will receive formal credit training, regular feedback, mentorship, and coaching to support your development and build relationships.

What Will You Do?

Credit Adjudication & Risk Assessment:

  • Review and adjudicate complex borrowing requests and transactions.
  • Analyze company financial statements and assess risk profiles
  • Analyze business and financial risk to evaluate corporate, leveraged finance, and commercial transactions.
  • Assist in evaluating risk considerations for new transactions and contribute to the development of deal structures that adequately mitigates key risk concerns
  • Review Transaction Requests, term sheets and risk assessments within agreed timelines and/or turn-around benchmarks; prepare credit approval recommendations, identify exceptions to applicable policies and guidelines, and suggest appropriate mitigants.
  • Review and adjudicate financial models and assist in continuous oversight of borrower’s business and financial performance through monitoring of financial and industry information, regulatory changes, third party analysis including rating agency publications, and other early warning signals
  • Support diverse sectors including Consumer, Retail, Industrials, Healthcare, Real Estate, Technology, Media, Energy, Financial Services, and Infrastructure
  • Interact professionally with Relationship Managers, underwriting teams and other key stakeholders in both Canadian Banking and Capital Markets.
What Do You Need to Succeed?Must-Have Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience (doesn’t have to be in financial services)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, solid financial literacy, and understanding of credit metrics
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to articulate complex credit concepts clearly
  • Strong critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and quantify risks and mitigants
  • Attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to multi-task across multiple transactions and priorities
  • High learning agility and strong intellectual curiosity with demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong problem-solving ability with capacity to work through complex, ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in credit risk management
