What you'll be doing

At CIBC Global Asset Management, one of Canada’s largest asset management firms, we’re committed to delivering high-quality global investment solutions to retail and institutional clients. As the Global Head of Securities Finance & Collateral Management, you’ll lead the transformation and centralization of our securities lending and collateral management functions. Reporting to the MD Head of Trading and Beta Solutions, you’ll drive strategic initiatives that maximize value for our clients, optimize collateral usage, and grow securities lending revenues. You’ll oversee the implementation of advanced technology solutions, develop commercially viable offerings for institutional and retail clients, and foster a culture of teamwork, trust, and accountability within your team. This role will involve direct people management and collaboration across multiple business units to ensure alignment with CIBC’s client-centric philosophy.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategic Leadership & Transformation – Develop and execute a comprehensive global strategy for continuous improvement and centralization of securities lending and collateral management, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Team Development & Culture – Cultivate and mentor a high-performing team, fostering excellence and continuous improvement while supporting their growth in securities finance and collateral management.

  • Growth & Sales Support – Build and promote securities lending solutions for institutional and retail clients, collaborating with internal teams to expand the client base and enhance acquisition strategies.

  • Revenue Optimization – Enhance asset management revenue by optimizing securities lending performance, delivering insights and bespoke solutions that contribute to portfolio alpha.

  • Collateral Optimization Strategies – Implement strategies to minimize collateral costs and maximize liquidity, including deploying high-quality liquid assets and leveraging “cheapest-to-deliver” logic.

  • Oversight of Service Delivery Partners – Monitor lending agents and technology providers to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.

  • Risk Management & Mitigation – Maintain a unified risk framework to identify and mitigate counterparty, liquidity, and operational risks, ensuring optimal collateralization and proactive monitoring.

  • Regulatory & Legal Compliance – Monitor evolving regulatory requirements, participate in legal agreement negotiations, and ensure compliance across all activities.

  • Technology Innovation – Identify and implement automation, straight-through processing, and emerging technologies such as AI and distributed ledger technology to streamline workflows and enhance capabilities.

Who you are

  • You’re a strategic leader. You bring a minimum of 10 years’ experience in investment products and global security markets, with a proven track record of leading transformation initiatives and optimizing business processes.

  • You have strong business and technical expertise. You hold a CFA, CPA, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You understand data flow, market data services, and have experience with accounting systems such as FMC (SS&C).

  • You’re a collaborative relationship builder. You excel at fostering partnerships across business units and external vendors, supporting sales and marketing efforts, and building professional relationships.

  • You’re analytical and detail-oriented. You have a systematic approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to resolve complex issues under tight deadlines and high-pressure environments.

  • You’re adaptable and innovative. You thrive in dynamic environments, easily adapt to new concepts and technologies, and drive process improvements through innovation.
