Citi is looking for a Full Stack Technology Lead to join its Technology team and shape the next generation of scalable, AI-augmented engineering. In this Vice President-level role, you will own end-to-end technical delivery — from architecting robust full-stack systems to pioneering the use of agentic AI workflows that transform how software is built at scale. This is an opportunity to lead at the intersection of modern engineering and cutting-edge AI tooling, directly influencing how Citi's engineering teams operate and deliver.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using ReactJS, TypeScript, and Python, translating complex business requirements into well-structured technical architecture and design documentation.
Contribute to system architecture decisions — spanning monolith versus microservices trade-offs, database design, and API strategy — to ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and built for scale.
Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling as a primary engineering accelerator, covering feature scaffolding, automated test authoring, code refactoring, and documentation generation.
Design and implement agentic engineering workflows that autonomously handle multi-step tasks including issue triage, code review assistance, pull request generation, and deployment scripting.
Identify and prototype opportunities where agentic AI can reduce manual effort across the software delivery lifecycle, including automated bug fixes, test generation, and dependency management.
Establish prompt engineering standards and quality gates for AI-generated code, ensuring outputs consistently meet security, correctness, and maintainability requirements.
Support CI/CD pipeline development and release strategies, ensuring smooth, reliable delivery of production-grade software.
6 or more years of full-stack development using ReactJS and TypeScript, with deep proficiency in hooks, context, and state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or Recoil.
Advanced TypeScript capability including generics, decorators, and complex typing strategies, paired with strong Python development skills in modular, middleware-driven architectures.
Expert-level knowledge of API design — REST and GraphQL — covering versioning, error handling, and performance optimisation at production scale.
Proven ability to design distributed systems, with proficiency across SQL and NoSQL databases, event-driven architecture, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Hands-on experience integrating and directing AI agent-led coding workflows within a production engineering environment.
Solid command of modern HTML and CSS, including responsive design principles, accessibility standards, and component library or design system implementation.
Working knowledge of DevOps practices and tooling including Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline configuration.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical discipline.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience evaluating and integrating emerging AI coding capabilities into team toolchains, with a track record of staying current with agentic AI developments.
At Citi, you will work on engineering challenges that operate at genuine global scale, collaborating with high-performing teams across technology and business. This role offers the scope, autonomy, and resources to make a lasting impact on how modern financial technology is built and delivered.
