Perplexity is looking for an experienced engineer to advance our frontend platform. Our small team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. You will help us build a next generation search engine with a best-in-class web experience.

For our frontend work, we use React, TypeScript, NextJS, react-query, Turborepo, and TailwindCSS. 

Responsibilities

  • Drive advancements in frontend infrastructure of the Perplexity web application
  • Make architectural decisions which shape the future of the way we ship code
  • Ensure a great developer experience across projects
  • Help achieve best-in-class performance
  • Contribute to our component library
  • Establish and enforce best practices in our codebase
    - Collaborate with Engineering leaders and other departments

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software development experience
  • Expert knowledge of React, Node and NextJS
  • Proactive communication skills and are ready to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interested in the future of UI/UX and think LLMs will play a crucial role in it
  • Determined to build great experiences by getting the details right
  • Up-to-date with the latest tech in frontend, and practical about applying this knowledge
  • Understand state management patterns, React rendering process, and how to make the most of TypeScript.

The cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $260,000.

Our AI-powered search assistant has amassed 10 million monthly active users as of early 2024, with our mobile apps installed over 1 million times across iOS and Android devices. In 2023 alone, we served over 500 million queries from users around the globe.

To support our rapid expansion, we've raised significant funding from some of the most respected investors in technology. In January 2024, we raised $73.6 million in a Series B round led by IVP, with participation from NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos' investment fund, NEA, Databricks, and other prominent firms. We followed that up with a $62.7 million Series B1 round in April 2024 led by Daniel Gross, valuing Perplexity at over $1 billion.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
 
Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity is part of the total compensation package.
