Summary

You’ll join Guidewire’s Professional Services team, the group that partners directly with customers to design and deliver solutions on our cloud platform. Within Professional Services, the Digital team builds modern, intuitive web experiences using Guidewire’s Jutro design system and cloud technologies. You’ll join a collaborative, learning-focused environment that combines strong engineering practices with close customer partnership.
As a Front-End Developer Intern, you’ll help design and develop digital experiences that bring Guidewire’s insurance products to life for agents, policyholders, and internal users. You’ll grow your skills in React, modern web development, and AI-assisted tools while working alongside experienced consultants and engineers—ideal for someone eager to learn how enterprise software is delivered and to build scalable front-end solutions that streamline implementation.

Job Description

What you’ll do
  • Learn Guidewire’s Digital products and Jutro design system, and apply them to customer implementation projects under the guidance of senior engineers and consultants.

  • Assist in designing, implementing, and testing new front-end features for customer-facing and internal web applications using React, HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript.

  • Help build intuitive, responsive user interfaces that align with accessibility best practices and deliver a consistent, high-quality user experience across devices.

  • Collaborate with UX Designers, Business Analysts, and InsuranceSuite implementation teams to translate user and business requirements into practical, reusable UI components.

  • Support integration of front-end components with RESTful APIs and backend services, including troubleshooting and refining data flows.

  • Use Git and modern development workflows to contribute clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and learn professional engineering practices.

  • Experiment with and apply AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or Claude) to increase your productivity, code quality, and test coverage as part of our broader AI-powered services strategy.

  • Contribute to internal examples, documentation, and implementation patterns that help Professional Services scale repeatable, high-quality digital solutions for customers while advancing our mission to transform how P&C insurers do business through cloud and AI-enabled experiences.

What you’ll bring

Required

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

  • Current enrollment in the 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor’s degree, or a graduate program, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Foundational knowledge of web development, including experience with HTML, CSS, SASS, and JavaScript through coursework or projects.

  • Familiarity with React and modern front-end concepts such as components, props, and basic state.

  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and core software design fundamentals.

  • Awareness of responsive design techniques and web accessibility considerations.

  • Clear, proactive communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid, cross-functional team environment.

  • Curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn from feedback in a consulting and customer-facing context.
     

Preferred

  • Prior hands-on React development experience through academic projects, personal work, or internships.

  • Understanding of React state management (e.g., hooks, context) and basic performance considerations.

  • Experience with Git or other version control systems and standard branching workflows.

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and integrating front-end apps with backend services.

  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) and interest in using them to accelerate delivery.

  • Basic knowledge of build tools and package managers such as Webpack, npm, or similar.
     

Your Impact

In your first few weeks, you’ll get oriented to Guidewire’s mission of transforming how P&C insurers do business, learn how Professional Services delivers implementations, and build a solid understanding of our Digital products and Jutro design system.
 

During your 3 months, you’ll contribute features to real customer projects, pair with senior consultants on UI implementation and integration tasks, and and use AI-assisted tools to help us reduce implementation effort.

Your work will help insurers adopt Guidewire Cloud more efficiently, improve the user experience for thousands of end users, and support our broader goal of scaling AI-powered, digital-first insurance solutions that deliver measurable customer value.

The Canadian CAD base salary range for this full-time position is $50,000 - $62,000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
