As a Freelance Presentation Designer at Critical Mass, you’re ready to jump into one of the most exciting and fast-paced corners of the agency—the Business Development, Marketing, and Communications (BDMC) team. That’s right, your client will be the agency itself, and your mission is to make CM’s pitch decks, proposals, presentations, and marketing content look like it belongs in an art gallery (no problem for you, since “talented” and “creative” are two of the first words people think of to describe you). You’ll work directly in the BDMC design pod alongside a tight-knit team of other presentation designers, helmed by our Design Lead (there’s a copy pod too, so you’ll also get to collaborate with some top-notch writers). With medium oversight, you’ll ensure our visual storytelling truly sings, that our branding is vibrantly resonant, and that even the most mundane infographic is crafted with artisanal care.

We mentioned this role is fast-paced, and it is, but that’s no problem for you. You come alive under pressure, but you can also be a dependable self-starter during a lull—in fact, “dependable” is another word people use to describe you! And fear not—you’ll always be surrounded by a supportive team, and they will always have your back.

You Will:

  • Develop and execute compelling presentation decks, demonstrating a strong understanding of the project’s objectives, deck construction, layout, and visual storytelling.
  • Translate complex ideas and data into clear, engaging, and visually appealing slides.
  • Apply advanced art direction and graphic design principles to enhance visual storytelling and impact.
  • Ensure all presentation designs adhere to our (or, in some cases, our prospective client's) brand guidelines, maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with team members to seamlessly integrate narrative and key messages into the design.
  • Stay updated on design trends and innovative presentation techniques to incorporate fresh perspectives into projects.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality presentation materials.
  • Incorporate feedback to refine and improve presentation designs.

Other Design Responsibilities:

  • Social posts and award entries
  • Miscellaneous or ad hoc presentation materials (print and digital)
  • Published trend reports and research studies

You Have:

  • 2+ years of proven experience in presentation design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of design styles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in translating complex ideas and data into clear, engaging slides using Keynote, Figma, PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides, and Adobe Creative Suite to create polished and professional presentation decks.
  • A proven ability to design visually compelling presentations that align with client branding guidelines and storytelling objectives.
  • Experience collaborating with content creators and cross-functional teams to ensure visual consistency and alignment with campaign goals.
  • Strong creative conceptualization skills to enhance visual impact, staying updated on design trends and innovative presentation techniques.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and attention to detail in all design elements, adhering to brand guidelines.
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery.
  • And of course, you possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey design concepts and collaborate effectively.
