Teledyne Digital Imaging is a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc., a U.S. publicly listed enterprise, and specializes in the manufacture, design, research and development of high performance CMOS and CCD image sensors and modular expandable cameras.  Teledyne Digital Imaging's products are used worldwide in machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multi media.

 

As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a FPGA Design Engineer in Waterloo.

Job Summary:

About the Custom Scanning Cameras (CSC) group at Teledyne DALSA in Waterloo:  

We are a dedicated team of staff who strive to design high quality machine vision products for our customers in the Mask and Wafer industries.  Our camera design involves CCD and CMOS sensors, power electronics, low noise analog circuits, high speed digital circuits, mechanical chassis and fixtures, effective heat sinking, microcontroller firmware, FPGA development, and interconnects.  Also, we work closely with other engineering disciplines such as Process Engineering, Test Engineering and Sustaining Engineering in ensuring the success of our products and, subsequently, the satisfaction of the customers.
 

Detailed Description:

As an FPGA Design Engineer for the Custom Scanning Cameras (CSC) group, you will be responsible for:
1.    Designing FPGA code in Xilinx Vivado environment for our new projects with Ultrascale and 7-series FPGAs, etc.,
2.    Contributing to the FPGA architectural design of our products,
3.    Participating in schematic design reviews,
4.    Debugging and maintaining FPGA code in Xilinx IDE and Intel (Altera) Quartus environments for our old products,
5.    Defining register maps for the external microcontroller to control the FPGA logic,
6.    Documenting FPGA design in detail, and
7.    Holding FPGA design review meetings.

Requirements:

The candidate should have a certain level of knowledge and experience in some of the followings:
1.    The Gigabit transceiver blocks of the Xilinx 7-series and Ultrascale FPGAs,
2.    The good practice in developing FPGA code regarding clock distribution, synchronous logic and internal block memories,
3.    The basics of I/Os and power requirements of various families of FPGAs,
4.    The concept of correction or compensation algorithms,
5.    The concept of data processing and saving the resulting parameters into memory,
6.    Serial communication protocols such as I2C and SPI,

7. DDR4 memory controller implementation,
8.    Machine Vision standards such as CameraLink and CLHS, and
9.    Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC.
