About Ideogram

Ideogram’s mission is to make world-class design accessible to everyone, multiplying human creativity. We build proprietary generative media models and AI native creative workflows, tackling unsolved challenges in graphic design. Our team includes builders with a track record of technology breakthroughs including early research in Diffusion Models, Google’s Imagen, and Imagen Video. We care about design, taste, and craft as much as research and engineering – shipping experiences that creatives actually love.

We’ve raised nearly $100M, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Index Ventures. Headquartered in Toronto with a growing team in NYC, we're scaling fast, aiming to triple over the next year. We're a flat team with a culture of high ownership, collaboration, and mentorship.

About The Role

As Ideogram's Founding iOS Engineer, you'll own the entire mobile experience. You'll own the iOS experience end-to-end, from crafting delightful native interactions to shipping polished features that millions of users love. We're looking for someone who combines product instinct with strong ownership, user empathy, and the ability to move fast in an evolving AI landscape.

What We're Looking ForProduct & AI Mindset
  • Deep curiosity about generative AI and genuine excitement about its potential to empower creators

  • Strong product intuition — you think about user problems first, then architect solutions

  • Experience shipping mobile features that bring AI capabilities directly into the user's hands

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and turn open-ended problems into polished, shipped features

  • Strong UI sensibility and an instinct for micro-decisions that make or break the user experience

iOS Execution
  • Expert-level proficiency in Swift and a strong grasp of Apple platform conventions

  • Experience shipping production iOS apps with real user impact, ideally consumer-facing and end-to-end

  • Strong understanding of UIKit and/or SwiftUI, and when to use each

  • Deep familiarity with the full iOS ecosystem beyond engineering: App Store guidelines, versioned releases, and multi-country/language deployments

  • Comfortable owning the full mobile lifecycle: architecture, implementation, testing, and App Store delivery

  • Experience with analytics and user behavior tracking within mobile apps

  • Ability to design clean interfaces to backend APIs and adapt as product needs evolve

  • Uses AI-native engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar) to meaningfully accelerate development velocity, debugging, and codebase comprehension

Ownership & Execution
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to identify opportunities and drive them to completion; you can create a plan and execute on it with minimal direction

  • Operates with urgency, ships incremental value and iterates based on real user feedback

  • Takes responsibility for outcomes, not just code; you care about whether users love what you build

  • Comfortable making independent architectural decisions, including evaluating approaches like a full rebuild vs. incremental migration

Collaboration & Communication
  • Can explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

  • Seeks feedback, acknowledges mistakes, and learns quickly

  • Pushes for quality through constructive code review and collaboration

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Our Stack

On mobile, you'll work primarily in Swift. Familiarity with the following is a plus, but not required:

  • Python

  • React

  • REST / OpenAPI & gRPC (for API integration)

  • GCP infrastructure

  • Redis & Memcached

  • Cloudflare

Nice to Have
  • Experience integrating ML models or on-device inference into iOS applications

  • Track record of shipping consumer-facing AI products or features on mobile

  • Familiarity with Core ML, Vision, or other Apple ML frameworks

  • Experience with A/B experimentation frameworks and feature flagging on mobile

  • Contributions to design systems or shared component libraries

  • Familiarity with real-time systems or high-throughput applications

  • Experience with basic deployment pipelines; international app distribution experience is a bonus

  • Understanding of iOS ecosystem promotion and growth tactics

Our Culture

We’re a team of exceptionally talented, curious builders who love solving tough problems and turning bold ideas into reality. We move fast, collaborate deeply, and operate without unnecessary hierarchy, because we believe the best ideas can come from anyone.
