About Origin by Prelude

Origin is building the next generation of endpoint security for the AI era.

Across the enterprise, AI agents are quickly becoming part of everyday workflows. They’re driving meaningful productivity gains, but they’re also creating a new and largely uncharted risk surface: agents operating on endpoints with powerful permissions, opaque behavior, and limited visibility or control.

Origin is developing endpoint capabilities purpose-built for this shift, giving organizations the tools to safely grant AI agents the permissions they need while maintaining control, oversight, and trust.

We’re backed by Sequoia Capital, Brightmind Partners, IA Ventures, and others, and built by a deeply technical team of OS internals researchers, product engineers, and offensive operations specialists.

We are still very early. The market for “AI agent security and control on endpoints” is only beginning to form. That is where you come in.

Role

This is not a classic “plug into the machine” AE role.

We’re looking for a founding, evangelical AE who thrives in undefined markets and wants to help define both the GTM motion and the category itself. With no established playbook, you’ll help us:

  • Clarify the early wedge and repeatable use cases

  • Run tight, rapid experiments across positioning, pricing, and packaging

  • Evolve founder-led sales into a scalable, learnable motion

You’ll work directly with the founder and early engineers, sitting at the intersection of product, sales, and market discovery. Think “renaissance rep” in a market-annealing phase: fewer territories and dashboards, more whiteboards, hypotheses, and deep enterprise conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Founder on Early Sales Cycles

  • Co-run early, high-stakes deals with the founder, particularly technical or strategic opportunities.

  • Qualify and shape opportunities by identifying buyer, urgency, risks, and budget.

Own the Developing Pipeline

  • Prospect into target accounts and leverage our network to open strategic doors.

  • Build and maintain a focused pipeline rooted in high-quality conversations and build account plans for logos that will anchor the first $5–10M ARR.

Be the Voice of the Market Internally

  • Bring structured feedback on buyers, objections, integrations, and workflows to product and engineering.

  • Shape messaging, positioning, and narrative using real customer language.

Lay the Foundations of Sales at Origin

  • Help define early quotas, compensation mechanics, and sales processes that fit an emerging market.

  • Create the first generation of playbooks, talk tracks, qualification frameworks, and enablement materials.

  • Model our culture: high ownership, low ego, tight alignment with product and research.

Skills and Experience

Experience Selling Into Early or Ambiguous Markets

  • Previously an early AE or first GTM hire at a seed/Series A infrastructure or security startup.

  • Comfortable selling when categories are undefined and buyers don’t have a dedicated budget line.

Strong Enterprise Security or Infrastructure Background

  • Sold products in areas like endpoint security, detection & response, identity, cloud security, devtools, or low-level infra.

  • Able to engage both CISOs and deeply technical architects.

Ownership Mindset

  • Will prospect, run follow-ups, build decks, write memos, and tune demos without needing defined process or a large engine behind them.

  • Effective without a big SDR team or established playbook, and capable of helping build them later.
