Job Description:

We're looking for a Finance Manager to drive insights that shape key business decisions. In this role, you’ll oversee gross margin and inventory performance, guiding processes for reporting, analysis, budgeting and forecasting, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. You’ll have the opportunity to influence senior leadership through trend analysis and strategic recommendations, while collaborating with cross-functional partners across Buying, Planning, Logistics, and global Finance. What You’ll Do:

  • The Finance Manager leads a team of Analysts to manage financial reporting, analysis and data collection for mark-on and mark-down inventory performance; it directly impacts Gross Margin and Inventory plans for TJX Canada.

  • Accountable for oversight and guidance direction to ensure Gross Margin and Inventory statements are prepared accurately and in accordance with GAAP; reviews monthly financial statements to identify variances to Plan, Rolling Plan and make recommendations to senior leadership based on trends and forecasts.

  • Provides direction for the preparation of annual and long-range Gross Margin, Markdown plans.

  • Establishes and actively monitors department activities to ensure controls and procedures comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOXX) requirements.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to leaders across Buying, Planning, Logistics, Distribution Center and Store Operations; builds and leverages internal and external partnerships to maintain controls, collaborates on projects, and drives the timely completion of deliverables.

  • Participates in weekly and monthly business planning meetings, highlighting key trends and insights for relevant stakeholders; investigates reasons for changes in performance and communicates accordingly.

  • Develop financial models to assess initiative profitability and enhance reporting through advanced tools, dashboards, and visualizations for actionable insights. 

  • Reviews team performance, provides continuous feedback, develops succession plans to meet future department needs and ensures that Associates have Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to support their growth.

About You:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in Finance and Accounting; a minimum of three (3) years of people-leadership experience.

  • Post secondary education in a related field (i.e. Finance, Business Administration, Accounting); CPA designation is considered an asset.

  • Excellent management skills, including the ability to act as a collaborative partner, positively influence peers and management, facilitate, negotiate, resolve conflict, manage time, and prioritize multiple deliverables.

  • Proven consulting skills, including the ability to procure and analyze a wide range of quantitative and qualitative information for use in developing strategies, policies, and solutions that meet individual, department, or organizational needs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate and interpret information effectively.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including building and maintaining effective professional relationships, and the ability to creatively challenge assumptions or current-state thinking.

  • Good computer skills including ERP (i.e. Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), with emphasis on Microsoft Excel spreadsheet modeling and data manipulation abilities.

  • Experience utilizing data analytics, visualization, and budgeting tools (i.e. TM1, Hyperion, Anaplan, Alteryx, Power Bi, Tableau), coding languages (i.e. SQL, VBA) and experience using Power Query, Power Automate (or similar) is considered an asset.

Salary Range: $87,031.00-$131,789.80 /year *This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
