Job Description
Financial Analyst, FP&A - Costco/Walmart at a Glance....
The Financial Analyst, Costco/Walmart will work directly with senior Sales and Finance leadership to drive trade spend effectiveness through partnership, superior financial insights and innovation of our function. This role will be responsible for supporting cross functional partnership, financial planning and analysis, management reporting, and business opportunity assessments to deliver profitable growth for the organization by understanding the drivers of gross to net discounts, ensuring robust and efficient processes for annual planning and month-end close.
What's on the menu?
Business Cycle:

  • Weekly: Prepare and distribute weekly reporting including customer inventory analysis and open deduction summaries; leading & innovating core planning processes/tools across Sales & Finance; review and approve incremental investment opportunities to drive top- and bottom-line growth
  • Month & Quarter: budget and forecast reviews on overall volume, trade spend and margin ensuring all required adjustments flow through accurately to reflect budgeted objectives/targets presenting action plans to Sales and Finance teams; manage trade accruals as needed
  • Annual Planning: trade planning by understanding all investments with the customer including promotions, pricing, preferred vendor agreements and target-based incentives


Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Make recommendations to business partners on opportunities for improvement. Draw insights and commercialize recommendations and corrective action for less than desirable business targets. Understand and challenge variances and work with Sales to manage opportunities and risks
  • Develop and maintain planning tools, financial modeling, and operating procedures to achieve targeted financial results including managing promo frequency & depth
  • Provide advice and counsel to CBT on trade spending policies and procedures. Proactively ensure on-going trade policy compliance in partnership with accounting team
  • Ensure systems and processes are correct and efficient to facilitate financial planning and analysis
  • Support CBT in validation of trade rates and trade funding validation of customer incentive program payments (Co2Co, VIP, PVA's, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e. pivot tables, complex formulas)
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, manage multiple projects, work independently, think creatively, implement improvements and work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels across the organization (verbal, written) including presenting complex information and analysis in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions


Nice to Have

  • Experience in consumer-packaged goods industry is a plus
  • Experience in Sales/Trade Finance or Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a plus
  • Experience in VBA, Marcos & Python a plus
  • Experience with SAP is a plus
  • Experience with AC Nielsen is a plus
