Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated Field Engineer to join our team. This remote position requires the candidate to reside in Oklahoma or Texas, with a strong preference for Oklahoma due to the extensive project-related travel (75%+) required.
You will be a key technical resource, responsible for the post-sale implementation and ongoing support of our complex and specialized communication systems. Your work will focus on programming, configuration, optimization, testing, and detailed documentation of various systems, including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure, ensuring peak performance and reliability.
System Implementation & Optimization:
Perform programming, configuration, optimization, testing, and documentation for complex communications systems.
Provision communication system infrastructure and optimize RF and Broadband architecture performance.
Conduct comprehensive remote site tasks, including antenna systems analysis, R56 audits, link verification, RF equipment optimization, combiner tuning, and RX multicoupler optimization.
Manage system integration, troubleshooting, and system management at the Master site.
Perform specific system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide expert technical support for specialized systems and applications, including troubleshooting software-driven electronics.
Assist with system upgrades as necessary.
Work under the direction of senior personnel (Field Engineers, System Support Center, Product Groups, and others) to characterize and resolve system defects during implementation and maintenance.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Act as a lead on small to medium-sized projects and additions to existing systems.
Mentor and coach less experienced Field Engineers and instruct maintenance personnel in system configuration, optimization, testing, documentation methods, and technical aspects of current communication systems.
Administrative & Compliance:
Maintain all assigned tools, test equipment, and company-owned assets (computer equipment, cellular telephones, vehicles) in excellent working order.
Ensure timely calibration of assigned test equipment and keep the test equipment database current.
Understand and apply system optimization, verification, and documentation requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Intermediate proficiency with computer systems (hardware, operating systems, and applications) and networking principles.
Proven ability to use specialized test equipment (e.g., T1 and Ethernet testers, FDRs/antenna systems analyzers, communications systems analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Cat 5/6 cable testers, wattmeters).
Intermediate understanding of RF, telecommunications, and computer networking concepts.
Formal training in basic electronics.
Proficiency in common computer programs (Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
Strong self-motivation and the ability to excel both independently and within a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and expand knowledge across current and new infrastructure.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75%+) as required throughout the state of Oklahoma and the state of Texas.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Basic Requirements
- 2+ years experience in one of the following areas: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, Engineering, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, Network Support, Astro/P25, Logging System, IT, Electronics, Systems, Networks, Public Safety, OR military experience.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
