What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications & Community Relations, the External Communications Specialist supports the planning and delivery of external communications, digital media, community visibility initiatives and stakeholder engagement. This role ensures alignment with GrandBridge Corporation’s Corporate Communications and Community Strategies and brand standards, with a primary focus on public-facing communications, community relations and reputation management.

  • Support execution of the Community and Corporate Communications Strategies with a primary focus on external audiences.
  • Collaborate with functional teams, affiliate companies, municipal shareholders and community partners to develop and implement external communications plans and initiatives to support organizational objectives.
  • Research, write, edit, and coordinate external communications materials, including media releases, advertising, website content, social media posts, speaking remarks, presentations and promotional campaigns.
  • Coordinate corporate sponsorship and donation requests, including intake, assessment, tracking, communications and allocation of funds.
  • Lead and coordinate employee volunteer participation in external events, working with community partners to manage logistics and timelines.
  • Support stakeholder engagement initiatives, including industry events, community programs, conferences and speaking opportunities.
  • Develop and execute engaging content for GrandBridge Corporation’s websites and social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to coordinate the production of promotional and communication materials including advertising, creative design, digital assets and photography.
  • Support the protection and enhancement of the company’s reputation by reinforcing organizational ambition, purpose and values, adhering to brand standards, and by contributing to issues management and crisis communications activities.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze website, social media and digital performance metrics and prepare reports to support evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain departmental records, files and documentation in accordance with established processes and record-keeping requirements.
  • Provide backup support to the Internal Communications Specialist and the Director, Corporate Communications and Community Relations as required.
  • Support the development and management of the annual Communications budget and ensure external initiatives operate within the approved budget.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering collaboration, supporting customers and community partners, and maintaining a respectful inclusive environment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Provide after-hours support:
    • Provide occasional support outside of regular business hours for external events.
    • Participate in social media monitoring and posting during major events or in emergency situations that may arise outside of standard business hours.


What You Will Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in utilities, electricity, or the energy sector is considered an asset.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly in plain language for print, web, video, and digital channels.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, communications and graphic standards, accessibility and privacy legislation, and Canadian Press Standards.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to assess and respond appropriately to inquiries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communications tools such as website management systems (i.e. WordPress), design tools, social media platforms, and monitoring software.
  • Proven collaborative approach with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
