Be part of the journey! The Auto Ratemaking team is looking for a candidate to join it as an Expert Actuarial Advisor. Are you interested in working on various projects in collaboration with Marketing, Claims, Underwriting, Sales and Business Development in a motivating environment where we focus on developing our people? Then you may be the one we are looking for! More specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Provide advice analyses by analyzing issues and challenges (indications, filings, competitive analysis), make appropriate assumptions, communicate results to the stakeholders (management, stakeholders, other teams) and make recommendations to the authorities concerned in a fast-paced environment

  • Lead the development of optimal pricing strategies involving multiple stakeholders; be sensitive to the changing market conditions

  • Ensure completion and submission of regulatory rate filings

  • Coach and mentor junior staff regarding various actuarial initiatives

  • Represent/liaise with other departments and key stakeholders

  • Lead large scale implementation of cutting-edge pricing techniques in an evolving and uncertain regulatory environment in a way that minimizes the adverse impact on Desjardins’ members and clients, and spurs profitable growth

  • Identify, build and improve the pricing algorithms for our auto products using modern modeling techniques (GLM, GBM, etc.)

  • Ensure the continuous evolvement of RSP cession strategy

What you bring to the table

  • A Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Successful completion of at least six CAS exams   

  • Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec    

  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Expert knowledge of P & C Insurance

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAS, VBA, R
