Design Researcher, EverProREMOTE/IN OFFICE (Toronto)

We are building an extraordinary company and looking for talented, energetic, and motivated people to join our team. You can learn more about our Company, Culture and Values here: https://careers.evercommerce.com/us/en

We are looking for a Design Researcher who will research, analyze and share insights about the attitudes and behaviors of customers that currently use EverPro solutions, as well as those who don’t yet but might in the future. You will be responsible for all research activities that allow us to understand the problem, learn about people, gain empathy, generate insights, and test new ideas. You will plan and execute research using qualitative and quantitative methods, analyze results, and synthesize insights in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

As a Design Researcher, you are expected to represent depth in the craft of design research: as an individual contributor, and as a mentor and guide for colleagues in other roles. You will often be the backbone of a research project from beginning to end. You will plan, prioritize, and deliver design research activities autonomously, in the context of interdisciplinary projects. Reporting to EverPro’s Design Director, you will be instrumental in shaping the research practice at the EverPro product portfolio level. Your work will impact tactical initiatives for individual software solutions, but also EverPro-level strategic product evolutions like our integrated customer journey and cross-solution features.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the go-to person for all things customer research & discovery related

  • Work across product, sales, customer success, customer support and other teams to scope, design, and execute impactful design research initiatives;

  • Drive exploratory and evaluative research initiatives, some that address strategic questions around customers, non-customers and/or new product opportunities and others that address more tactical-level questions around the impact and usability of specific product iterations;

  • Use both qualitative and quantitative data to generate insights and opportunity areas for further exploration

  • Communicate research findings to diverse audiences through presentations and written analyses and other stand-alone research artifacts;

  • Help others understand and use design research methods in their daily work, bringing conviction and helping drive culture change across the organization

  • Build strong collaborative relationships across teams within the company, including product, marketing, design, sales, engineering, customer success, customer support, and executives.

Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:

  • 8+ years of professional design research experience (although you might have had different job titles)

  • Highly developed research skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work

  • Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different qualitative and quantitative research tools and methods;

  • Experience driving or participating in design sprints or similar processes designed to rapidly de-risk and explore hypotheses about how to respond to a problem or opportunity;

  • You can ruthlessly prioritize your work to drive the most impact across EverPro

  • Ability to parallel track multiple discovery/research projects

  • Confident presentation and storytelling abilities

  • Experience collaborating in multifunctional teams as the research lead

  • Must be comfortable in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous work situations

  • Strong initiative, keen attention to detail, and complex problem-solving abilities

  • Highly autonomous, entrepreneurial and self-motivated

  • Experience integrating design research into software development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • A university degree in a relevant Design, Technology, or Social Science discipline

  • Experience in SaaS and/or native mobile application environments

  • Experience doing research in the home improvement / home services industry
